I have two problems with my map. 1: My roads are not showing on the GPS app but are just fine on the car GPS so how do I fix it? 2: How do I stop the trees from fading away in the distance? (it's not to do with my settings as I maxed them out for the snapshot).
I always have issues with the roads not showing on GPS. In general, setting driveability to more than 0 should make them show up. But it often only works on the other GPS ui app, not the default one. For the trees, each model has a pop in/out value which dictates the distance. Most trees have (from near to far), full poly, reduced poly, minimal poly, billboard, pop-out. These values are set in the .dae model and can be modified in blender (you'll have to Google blender to beamng). I don't know of any other settings that would help.
My driveability is set to 1 on all of my roads. Also, thanks for the method for fixing the trees, I'll try it shortly!
Yeah, the GPS thing was an issue for my roads, even if set to 1. Sorry, other than using the improved nav app (https://www.beamng.com/resources/improved-navigation-map.19983/) I don't know what to suggest. For the trees, each model will need to be exported to .dae (unless they're already available as .dae, I can't recall), loaded in Blender, then repackaged in the right format for Beamng (it is a bit of a pain, which is why I didn't do it). The layer/object names hfor each model (high poly, low poly, etc.) dictate the pop-in distance. See: https://wiki.beamng.com/Creating_static_objects.html and: https://wiki.beamng.com/Exporting_static_objects.html
Thanks for the GPS app mod! It works great! However, I edited the trees in Blender which yielded in fixing the fading issue, but the textures are now broken! Would it be possible for you to do it for me? I can give you a copy of my map with the original untouched tree files so you can take a look at them!
I'd love to help, I really would, but I genuinely don't have time these days with work and family. I tend to just answer a few questions on here and dream of having time to mod again... The whole beamng to blender and back material issue is a total fucker. Takes a lot of trial and error. Try looking up some of the YouTube videos out there. There are a few, but I don't have the links to hand. The best I can suggest is that you make a note of the materials used from the object viewer in beamng, then make sure you name all the materials in blender with the same exact name. Just use a dummy material, it's only the name that has to be the same. Others might be able to help though...
