Hi, thanks. Glad you enjoy it. A few things to cover. That's really strange.... I was looking at LiDAR data for that exact stretch earlier today (and I've not looked at any for ages, so it really is quite the coincidence...). I live in Bradford on Avon, so it's my neck of the woods. It's really bizarre you asked me today... I was genuinely looking at Bathford to Bath. Maps are a labour of love. I honestly wouldn't take money for one, because if I did it would need to be a lot... A country map like Somerset is a week at least of work (outside of my normal day job), but urban areas are an absolute nightmare... It's just so much work to get anything good, and requires a lot of time in blender, which I'm quite crap at. Bath is an absolutely mammoth task. I'd bloody love to do it though as it's a cracking city and area to drive around. I'd love a replica of brass knocker hill, and a whole load of the A roads around, let alone the country lanes. I've been toying with a BoA map for a while. If I do that and it comes out anywhere near decent, the next step would be Bath, but it would honestly likely take me a year. I've got a kid arriving in Feb too, so I suspect that's my chances (and interest) for computer time out the window for a bit. There is a chance I could get a sort of bodge of the area done using a combination of different plugins I've been trying recently. But it would look pretty garbage. I'll have a play around and see what comes out. I'll keep you posted.
ahaha what a coincidence and yeah it does sound like a big project but if that BoA map goes well and youve got time then we would have to see and yeah i understand thats a small fair for a large map would be cool to see oneday tho ill keep and eye out for any updates your end good luck with everything. and i agree the A roads and lanes would be a dream i ride motorbikes all around BANES would be so fun to replicate in game specaily sally in the woods lanes on the way into bath from BoA.
also brass knocker hill would be epic i love going up or down there on my bike can get so low on those corners
I finally got around to implementing this. It worked well, thanks! I have submitted to the repository. The file is oversize though, so it usually takes a while to update. Should come through automatically. Thanks.
I had a message this morning saying it has been approved and uploaded, so I completed the changelog. It should go live very soon.
el_ferrito updated Somerset, UK with a new update entry: Update Read the rest of this update entry...
Lookin good after the latest update! I just wish there were more UK maps on BeamNG, but alas I will have to wait or make one myself.
Hello el_ferrito! It seems I found a small bug. AI could drive on the map normally, but traffic won't spawn on most roads on the map, and those roads don't show on the navigation UI App either. I assume the issue happens because Drivability of those roads is set to 2. This causes traffic to ignore them. Maybe you can fix this. Thanks! And this map is really cool! Love it.
How strange! I'll take a look, thanks. The intention was for all asphalt roads to be drivability 1. and then the dirt roads to be less, without spawning. But also, I could really do with redoing the whole AI roads for the level, as you've been able to have Left side driving for a while now, and it would be better than my bodge. Cheers for flagging.
I think this is most likely due to the number of trees causing issues on some systems (it works smoothly on my mid-level PC). This was my first proper map, and I overdid the tree density in parts. I have subsequently tried to reduce these, with minor improvements, but could probably go further.
Yes, I didn't played this map since a while, but I remember 2 years ago that loading causes the game to crash because the memory was saturated. I have since gone from 6 GB to 16 GB, but I don't know if the map has changed that much since then.
Hello, dear developer, how do I place a skybox on your map? Since any skybox I install is reflected on the machine and remains gray as before, please help!
Sorry, I honestly don't know without looking, and I have no time these days for modding unfortunately. I'm sure others can help. I suspect I've done something daft in the settings somewhere if it's not working properly. Usually the case.
