Last year tdev was interviewed at an ADAS expo, he said they're still working on the new tire model and calibrating it with real life tire data. I'll try searching for the post with the video --- Post updated --- Here it is, they talk about tires from the 1 minute mark https://www.beamng.com/threads/update-speculation-thread.20246/page-3337#post-1730330
About the car in 2026. If they build cars to establish new ideas, components, or features, think about what we don’t have: open wheel racer or any bespoke road racing car (ie stock car, lemans,) for unique suspension setups or geometries, tire thermals wink* or aerodynamic improvements, to include drafting…completely spitballing here. I’ve wanted an armored transport vehicle on the MD platform for a while, mil MRAP/swat idk…
That is great! I will say it would have been nice for a more direct response either in the forums or in a "On the horizon" blog like they did back a few years ago rather than a interview for the expo that is less viewed by the consumer
I personally think pinging him is a bad idea + he doesn't have any reasons to reply to any person who wishes to be replied to.
Also this is an update speculation thread No an ask the Devs what's going to be in the next update thread
It’s listed as being for testing purposes only and would increase the game’s rating with vulgarity being used. The point being this is more along the lines of conversation that’d be more realistic from a co-driver instead of the very simplified notes we hear in games. It’d be amazing to see but it’d probably require a lot more manual work/time when making stages.
If the devs can't do it, sometimes modders will take it into their own hands and offer that feature even if the developers couldn't implement it.
I know this is probably an unpopular opinion, but I hope whatever is coming in 2026 is some sort of road car. I feel like a custom racer, à la Radical SR3, would be a little niche. If 0.27 is anything to go by, niche cars like the Stambecco (it's niche in the sense that it's strictly a barebones off-roader) aren't used by the community all that much. Road cars like the Sunburst or Scintilla are far more popular because the configs can encompass more of what Beamng has to offer.
I agree with your statement, but you take a vehicle like the dunekicker which is only good for one thing and it gets reasonable use. A track car like the SR3, for example, while it would only get used on the track, would fill a void and provide a new experience and opportunities in the game. Monster grip levels, braking performance, downforce. Would make for good racing and time trials - letting people tune a spec car. Give the devs more experience in building a race car and how it handles before tackling more powerful and unforgiving racing classes. If they give us something different, I'll be happy, too. Excited for whatever they come up with tbh
If the new car is coming in 2026, wouldn't that be at a minimum 0.38ish based on the update cycle? That's definitely a bit of a wait it feels like.
