Quick update - Disassembly of the radio unit itself was not easy as some parts have seized (either that or I'm an idiot). At the end I re-melted the solder on the relevant connections, and assembled everything. And it all works now, so I'm happy
I adjusted the valves today, but i wanted to use a vacuum gauge, so I smashed a chinese copy carburettor thing together as it's got a port for full manifold vacuum, unlike the dedicated slant six hi-performance carb (1967-69 in Australia, longer in other countries), which only has ported vacuum. Wow, didn't expect that, very healthy numbers. Maybe it takes 60,000 miles to break in a slant six ?
Was at a Gearbox Specialist today with my father since his Superbs Rear Differential is starting to make noise. Spotted a rather interresting car there
That is pretty interesting, yeah. I wonder if it's still owned by the team or if it's privately owned.
Much better Need to fix this bent piece of metal because right now my exterior driver door handle doesn’t work (again) Getting new tires soon.
Is that shag pile? funky Gotta love AMC build quality By the looks of it the stamped metal piece interferes with lock rod, remind me, are the handles the pull out kind or push button?
Woah, man that peak '80s stylin right there Oh that's right AMC used those handles since the late '60s, is that rod inside supposed to twist with the handle or does the handle push against that rod? It's confusing just to think about how it works
Pretty sure it pushes the rod and the rod rotates the thicker piece but the thicker piece is bent so it doesn’t do anything
I see how that works now, it looks like the large piece your talking about is supposed to look like that. Have you tried spraying some lube on it?
Recently bought new rims for the Second E39. On the weekend i will change the rims on the Touring as well
Are you gonna lower the front end at all now that you have new wheels? Looks a little high That did it. Of course it doesn’t work when I do it but when someone else tells me to it does Thanks though
yes i will lower it on a set of KW Coilvers next year but i wil soon have to put it away for winter so i wont do it this year anymore
I imported a Suzuki Carry and it arrived here in Finland last week. 1993 DD51T 4wd and 5-speed. Put on some high beams, three spoke wheels, new studless winter tires and a work light for the bed. I still have to alter the light pattern before registering it here, but I have a few months for that. Tomorrow I have my first real test for the Carry, helping a friend move.
havent posted much, been really crunching down on my gs1000. Got it running pretty good, still battling the top teir shmoo in the tank and fuel system and getting a set of points and condensers on order, since the current ones i assume are original. trying to get as many bikes going for next spring as possible also might have another gs1000 lined up fir me to buy next spring
