Today I took out the Radio from my '13 Nissan Micra.
The radio was working fine but the radio volume control dial was broken (no big deal, I use the steering wheel controls), and the AUX connection has failed recently. So radio stations are my sole source of music for a while now.
After much deliberations and contrasting advice from friends, I have decided to try and fix the soldering on the AUX instead of buying an aftermarket touchscreen radio with Bluetooth and other modern features. The main reason is since I mostly drive alone, I like to be able to press buttons without looking at them (eyes on the road always!). I can't do that with a touchscreen because there are no buttons. I also wanted to keep the steering wheel volume controls and I am not quite sure if they would work with a different radio, because I don't know how they connect to the amp, and I never tried to fix a car radio before, all I know is that it can be an issue on some radios. Fixing the AUX also seemed like the simplest way to go. Once it's complete I'll update if everything went fine.

BTW, I found out that the brackets mounting the radio in place were held by only 3 screws. I have a suspicion it's Nissan's assembly line fault and not some previous mechanic, it doesn't look like it was ever taken apart before. I hope critical parts have better QC lol

Quick update - Disassembly of the radio unit itself was not easy as some parts have seized (either that or I'm an idiot). At the end I re-melted the solder on the relevant connections, and assembled everything. And it all works now, so I'm happy
