Agreed, currently here is no way to exit the freeway and leave to drive on city streets and access parking lots. Also, I've noticed that a lot of the freeway exits are blocked off with barricades, so you can't use them. It would be nice to see these opened up so you can drive through the city and park as well. (Right now the map is constantly trying to tell me to turn left into highway walls because the exits are closed). And maybe a warning when the highway is about to cut off and drop into the ocean?? Looking forward to the rework.
Considering this is a port of the AC map, no, there wont be street access or much of it that isn't in the original map, as the developers only try to focus on the highway part and I'm not sure AC can handle the streeet level city too.
This is not a port from AC at this point. The new version is remade from scratch using TXR 2025 assets and has nothing to do with the AC mod This is why ETA of release is unknown, but it would be nice if it was ready in a year.
So I guess this means expanding the map with new roads is possible even though the AC porting team has revoked permission to use their assets.
That's cool but I have several questions now that the map has diverged. Since that also means we wont be seeing (naturally) any of the AC map additions, will there be work done to "expand" the map beyond the source concept or is it a "you get it exactly how TXR does it"?
I would say they really should add the ramps from daikoku to yokohama on namamugi jct but that seems to have been built around 2015-2017 irl
Yes, for example, all PAs are accessible from roads, we are modeling entrances, and so on. As for actual road expansions, no idea, for now I'm working on updating and remodeling the Yokohama area that used PS2 game assets. But otherwise it's as weird as TXR 2025, which is half modernized and half 2006 state
Well that's what happened with these kind of projects My wish has always been to have street level roads, and I know how dumb that sounds. I just wanted the highway to feel like the fastest straight route, but not the only route between points.
I think they partially used txr3 data in some sections for no reason. The most obvious example are the bayshore tunnels and tollbooths.
They use slightly modified Wangan Midnight models in TXR 2025. They don't use anything from TXR 3, everything references the PS3 game. Likely PS3 game reused some stuff from the PS2, so it ended up in the new game
Check the bayshore tunnels and tollbooth around the aqualine junction. Tunnels use lower poly walls, 2d fences and in some areas directly use txr3 textures. Tollbooths are noticably lower poly, and use multiple recognisable txr3 textures. One of the tunnels on that junction litrally has a low res txr3 wall. Lots of fences around daikoku are also low poly, instead of the ps3 3d ones. My theory is that some of the ps3 game content is remade by bandai namco, and thus genki did not have acces to it for txr25. Yokohama and bayshore are reworked txr3 models in both games regardless. I THINK only C1/new belt got remade from scratch. I can send pics if you like. I like ranting about this. (also only the enviroment is tagged ps3)
Haha I just commented my "dystopian" Wish of Yokohama Parts on Tokyo Shuto and then i saw your Update Announcement. I'm looking more forward to it than GTA6 hahaha
