Here's your explanation. The new damping system will improve FFB, among other things. I forgot about that....but the 200BX does have rally coilovers on both ends, as I just found out.
Changes I've noticed from the old plan: Racetrack has been slightly altered. Back straightaway has been given an optional chicane and altered slightly; it now shares space with the drag strip and curves slightly to the left before coming back to the right. Last section has had some curves added. "Boot" section early on has been altered and given a sharper chicane; it now also empties directly onto the back straightaway rather than going through a right-left combination. Front-straight exit has been changed from a right-left combination to a gentle right-hand sweeper leading to a sharper left-hand corner; this also means the short-course section has a much sharper entry. Said section is also much smoother in its curves and has a different overall layout later on. A theoretical intermediate course has been significantly altered in terms of where you drop off the main course to reach it, and may even have changed in terms of which section from the main course it cuts off. Many things have been moved around; the dirt track has been significantly altered (possibly shortened?) in terms of layout (though it still retains the crossover feature) and now sits where the dirt oval was going to be, the dirt oval has been reoriented about 90 degrees and now sits where the drift track was going to be, and the drift track has been removed entirely. As said before, the drag strip now shares space with the back straightaway. Many paddock areas and access roads have been removed or altered; specifically, the main paddock area seems to have been made smaller as a result of all the other changes, and there's a new access road running behind the front-straight grandstand. Outside the track, the mountain road seems to be mostly the same, but has had a few slight curves sadly removed from its south end and now has a couple more roads branching off, one of which connects to the racetrack entrance. That last one crosses over a freeway in the process, with ramps to and from both lanes; that freeway itself may not originally have been a freeway. There is also a dirt road coming off the mountain road that appears to lead to some manner of parking area higher up the mountainside. The coast road in the extreme northwest of the map (top right corner of the image) appears to have been lengthened and may now lead into the dockyards, and another road has been added branching off of it that may lead back to the freeway or, more likely, becomes a frontage road which then leads into the city. Beyond that, I hope the roads at/leading to the edge of the map don't just... cut off like that, though the cutoff point is suspiciously coincidental with the edge of the image file containing the old plan. Given that, the island is unlikely to be driveable, and the bridge leading to it will likely be broken, like the bridge leading out of Utah.
I am very confused with the apparent lack of the drift track... I thought it was redundant to have a drift track and the mountain course, but I was still looking forwards to it and wondering what's the story with it.
The track looks like it might have so elevation changes near the end of that long back straight and down through the esses, hard to tell from the angle. Hoping it won't be all flat.
I wonder if those rails are properly modeled or just textured. A road-rail car seems useless for a cable car track but it would be a decent excuse for something new and interesting, even if it would be just a novelty.
I doubt it's modeled, see what happens when you have a small curb? Tires don't like it. But, every update has a tire update, and it is a reversed curb, so I could be wrong.
Also, it just hit me that, since WCA has multi-lane divided highways, we may see the AI get more sophisticated support for different road rules - split roads, one-way roads, maybe even multiple lanes, though that one is less certain - in this update or whichever update includes WCA.
Yeeeeet! WCA is looking beautiful! Of course, I will have to murder some vegetals, destroy the city, and even eliminate the background area carefully and thoughtfully optimize this map to get it to run in realtime on my computer with one car, but I'd love to have some chases and races on the highways, mountain roads, city streets, and the racetrack. Speaking of racetrack...does this mean that we may get an updated AI that could possibly, maybe, theoretically race well for once?
Just a positive side note. This is how this discussion should be, Good job. Your being more informational then the dev log as of recent.
Awww Yeeeaaah!! That thing looks big enough to wheel school buses around, and level enough to serve as a derby arena! It's just what we need! Well... I guess that answers one of my big questions about WCUSA. From the looks of that, the pumpjacks aren't going to be animated. I didn't expect them to be, but I wondered if they were going to be like the windmills at the ETK test centre - non-colliding, but surrounded by a fence that is.
Traffic Ai would be impossible with current game engine as it would lag out every PC... I've got I7 7700K with 16GB RAM and an Nvidia GTX 1050 TI and with about 12 cars I'm already getting Frame rate drops. Considering that traffic AI would need to run about 100-500 cars on a map this big it would require a beastly PC to run it.
Not actually normal games normally spawn the cars around the player so that the amount of needed cars is alot less or in other words: It would be impossible to make a game like GTA 5 or so if all cars of the whole map had to be spawned at once my guess is that if they ever implement traffic they would do it so that its on a very small map like lets say gridpmap size (not the whole gridmap just the inner thing where you spawn) so that 6 cars would be enough to make it look inhabited
So it looks like WCUSA is coming closer to public release, by time as the last update was a bit of a disappointment.
WCUSA looks to be the within the next update, not sure if Italy's gonna be in it too, just because of the amount of times LJFHutch has said 'EARLY WIP' whenever he posts new screenshots. I'd say within the next month EDIT: Do you think some garages will be animated?
