Learn what ? You don't learn how to make configs, that's obvious, and it's very annoying if you post them separately on the repo. I never gave an unfair rating, they all deserved it. It's a way for the modders to know they're doing it wrong, and that they need to improve, or in this case, do something else.
So just because you're good at modding and they're not, you have to give them a shit rating and discourage them from possibly becoming a good modder in the future? They've used their brain trying and trying again to get the darn thing to work properly more than you have posted crap ratings.
It's honestly not a deserved rating cause when you say, "That can be done in a minute, you didn't say it requires a mod, and one single config, really ?" you sound like an absolute douche bag. That doesn't sound like you're trying to make them improve or let them know their doing it wrong.
Anyone with the IQ of half a donut has to at least give the modmaker credit for having the motivation to edit the info.json files and stuff like that. it's a skin, give them more credit. Some people don't know blender and stuff like that like you, so why would they be motivated to learn it if you're going to discourage them?
It's funny that you're criticizing others mods when you only have one mod yourself. You don't have the right to criticize, let alone anybody else on this forum. And if somebody does criticize, they need to make it constructive criticism.
"So just because you're good at modding and they're not" : I've never said that, and I don't pretend I am
"you have to give them a shit rating and discourage them from possibly becoming a good modder in the future" : I don't discourage anyone to become a GOOD modder.
"They've used their brain trying and trying again" : lol, configs
"It's honestly not a deserved rating cause" : I'm just pointing out the flaws, and the lack of effort.
"It's funny that you're criticizing others mods when you only have one mod yourself" : look again, they're not listed under my username but I took part in more than one mod (i.e. : Pessima Coupe)
"You don't have the right to criticize [...] if somebody does criticize, they need to make it constructive criticism." : I do have the right to criticize, that's why anyone can leave a one star rating. Constructive criticism is only necessary when there's something to improve, and I already tried on one of his mods...
Also, if I follow your logic, what gives you the right to criticize me ? @Rainvest you say I sound like an "absolute douchebag", that's your opinion and I don't care about it. @zestyfolfdude you say I only have one mod (still lol), but you don't have any, and you probably have little to no knowledge in modding.
But you could probably know that making configs is the laziest form of moddding. Also, still following your broken logic, you don't have the right to criticize me.
@Rainvest@zestyfolfdude Considering your behaviour on these forums i'm honestly surprised you both haven't been banned. As for this discussion of discouraging modders. If you do not have the tolerance to accept criticisms, whether constructive or not, modding really is not something you should do (especially if you plan on releasing to repo).
He may have started out making configs and little packs and being "hated" on by some but he has become much more now and he is still learning and making even more stuff.
@CreasingCurve I'm not saying that criticism is wrong. Everyone should have a right to criticize. Shitting on somebody like there is no tomorrow is not fine. Eh, whatever. Go ahead and delete these posts and lets not disturb the comments anymore and keep it to pm.
You guys say about how config mods are justified as a learning experience all over the place.
As a result. Go make a config mod. Now go make an actual mod. Oh look, there's nothing you learn in the config mod that is relevant to the actual mod. They are not educational aids to your missing career.
More so, if you are making some genuinely crap mods while you learn how to mod, you know you could just not release it.
This pattern of releasing crap mods repeatedly and ignoring genuine feedback isn't anything to do with them learning and in fact go look at many people's first released mods, they were great. Why? They didn't release the crap they made before
They would make a first mod, figure out what's wrong, learn how to fix it, delete the whole mod and start again. Actually doesn't take that much and seems to only lead to one or 2 discards.
These repeated poor releases from the likes of fen and beamo, they're attention seeking, they want people to like them for being modders and then hide behind bullshit excuses when they don't want to learn how to mod properly
