An authentic, 3.0L Diesel sound for the van to make it sound more...diesely? Yeah.

Re-reviewed: I like it, it gives the van a certain realism to it's driving experience, question though, what is the progress on the new sound?

Definitely sounds like a Toyota D4-D. Did you get some inspiration from Forza Horizon 3's sound sample? Sounds almost identical, even though yours has a bit more rattle.

Certainly :). The vehicle used is the same one recorded for the game except this one is modified more so to be a bit throatier. I'm actually planning to improve and remake this sound in the future as this was made prior to the most recent FMOD update so it needs some retuning. Thanks though :).

this is awesome! needs that idle tho

Thanks :). It's not going to get it because of reasons explained, this isn't a transit sound but a modified Hilux with intake mod, the idle is very clean and modern somit won't have that diesel tap. However, mod coming up soon will be full on transjt.

Sounds more like a Russian 3 cylinder 2 stroke Skoda engine to me... :)

I like the sound! I think it sort of sounds like a small aircraft if you are far away from it although I am sure planes do not use I6 diesel engines. :p

Putting this to the ambulance H-series makes the thing scream like an old Transit on a heavy uphill. Very good job.

I know right? Despite being a more modern engine I really do love the sound these samples generate in the long roads, up hill and racing, such good fun.

Yes indeed! I havn't played with engine data much yet but at least there are plenty of nice engines to use on these forums/repo. What I may do...is find a way to make it so whatever the engine data you have installed, if you have one of my sounds mods installed you can select it from a drop down no problem. Will have to look into this in the future.

This update drastically changed this mod... all i can say is: Congrats.
You have managed to catch the H-Series' essence in this sound mod perfectly.

You reckon? Thanks :), I only made the transitions smoother and it sound a little less blaring and bit more trebly, every little helps i guess, many thanks :).

Brilliant sound, Brings so much character to the H series. All I ask is a little more power, Maybe a turbo to get 300 hp or just something a little more gutsy
    1. Tronadorous
      Author's Response
Thanks :). You can quite easily change the power in the engine file however if desired I can release an update with a variety of powers in it :). I'm not used to such slow moderation system when making changes or uploading files so unfortunately you'll have to wait a day or 2 for the changes lol. I'll look into moar powa though for sure.

Very good for a first mod. Keep it up!

These sounds remind me of a boxer engine and has good quality audio.

      Author's Response
Cheers :). As soon as I found out this game used the FMOD sound system when they updated it I was straight on it :). I've actually been sound missing other games for about 5 years however for now, hope to keep focus on this as the game has so much customisation I can add potentially.

This sound is actually very satisfying. I only wish i could squeeze more power out of the engine, at the moment it feels very gutless. I wish all the diesels had this quality of sound.
    1. Tronadorous
      Author's Response
Thanks :). Well, if you edit the 3L_Diesel_Pack.zip\vehicles\van\3L_Diesel\30LDIESEL jbeam file and look at the "torque" section, change it too whatever you like and even change the max rpm if you like, although you'll get my overrev sound from 5400 onwards lol unless i upload different versions...that would be a good idea actually...hmm.

But yeah, you can change the power yourself quite easily in this file. I only copied the power specs from the top end Artic Trucks varient with a similar curve. The transmissions available for the H-Series are not the greatest either so perhaps if there are tranmission mods out there too, worth a fiddle :).

Finally a good H-Series sound. Besides fitting incredibly well, it doesn't have any clicks on the sample and it's well blended on the Sbeam.
    Well done sir.

One thing tho, make it rattle more at it sounds a bit too good for the H Series...
    1. Tronadorous
      Author's Response
Many thanks :D. I've been sound modding with FMOD system for a while so I'm fairly good at getting the blends sorted, the hard thing at times is the sample loops. They require sometimes painstaking fiddling getting a tiny amount of "fade" both at the start/finish to get them blended right. Getting there.

With regards to the rattle, again the 3.0L engine is quite "new", the only way i can make it rattle is to remove oil from the engine (mate wouldn't be happy with that haha!) or do it artificially. I assume by rattle you mean a more "old diesel" clattery sound found it 1999-2004 2.5L transit diesels for example?

I'll give it a go for the the 1.2 version by adding it artificially, i have a diesel "click" sound thay mayyy blend with the samples but will have to see if it works. Will update when i get a chance with more video demos :).
