    BEANWRENCH STROBE CONTROLLER

13 PATTERNS • CUSTOM HUD • STOCK LIGHTING

Turn the Ibishu Covet’s existing lights into a complete camera-sensor mutilator.

    ABOUT THE MOD

Beanwrench Strobe Controller is a stock-first lighting mod for BeamNG.drive.

It reuses the Ibishu Covet’s fitted lighting systems and BeamNG’s existing light assets to create strobes, wigwags, alternating signals, lamp chases, front-versus-rear sequences, and full-vehicle warning patterns.

No replacement Covet meshes, textures, materials, glow maps, or vehicle Lua files are included.

    Supported vehicle: Ibishu Covet
    Current version: v0.4.2
    Release status: Experimental beta

This release is focused on making one verified vehicle look excellent before compatibility is expanded to additional vehicles.

    A REAL IN-GAME CONTROL PANEL

The included HUD is inspired by “reappropriated” police and public-safety lighting controllers.

Instead of forcing you to cycle through every mode, the controller provides dedicated On, All Off, and direct pattern-selection controls.

The amber display reports controller and power status, while the blue backlit keypad provides one-click access to every pattern.

    FEATURES

    • 13 selectable warning-light patterns
    • Purpose-built, police-console-inspired HUD
    • Dedicated On and All Off controls
    • Direct pattern selection with no forced mode cycling
    • Uses the Covet’s existing fitted lamps
    • Uses BeamNG’s existing lighting assets
    • Supports standard and USDM combined signal paths
    • Automatically disables HUD controls when the controller is not fitted
    • Guards against stale commands after switching vehicles
    • Includes a custom app-selector preview
    • Installs additively without replacing original Covet files
    • Includes beginner-friendly technical documentation
    • Includes commented teaching examples

    INSTALLATION

    1. Download beanwrench_strobe-v0.4.2.zip.
    2. Install the ZIP as a normal BeamNG mod.
    3. Spawn an Ibishu Covet.
    4. Open Vehicle Configuration.
    5. Open the Additional Modification slot.
    6. Select Beanwrench Stock Strobe Controller.
    7. Enter BeamNG’s UI Apps edit mode.
    8. Add the Beanwrench Covet Strobe app to your HUD.
    9. Leave UI edit mode, press On, and select a pattern.

Already had an older version installed?

Reload BeamNG’s UI by pressing [ICODE]F5[/ICODE]. If the app still behaves incorrectly, remove it from the HUD and add it again once.

    STOCK-FIRST DESIGN

This project intentionally keeps as much of the original game intact as possible.

The mod does not include replacement Covet:

    • Meshes
    • Textures
    • Materials
    • Glow maps
    • Bulb emitters
    • Vehicle Lua files

The current implementation uses BeamNG’s shipped lightbar controller for pattern sequencing and the Covet’s existing electrics channels for visible output.

    EXPERIMENTAL BETA NOTES

THIS RELEASE CURRENTLY SUPPORTS THE IBISHU COVET ONLY.

Please keep the following limitations in mind:

    • Pattern appearance may vary depending on graphics FPS and fitted lighting parts.
    • Brake, reverse, indicator, hazard, ignition, fog-lamp, and factory-lightbar interactions are still being tested.
    • A factory lightbar shares BeamNG’s normal lightbar activation and mode controls.
    • Avoid combining the Beanwrench controller with a factory lightbar during initial testing.
    • The HUD highlights the most recent pattern selected through the HUD itself.
    • Pattern changes made through stock radial-menu controls or keybinds may not update the HUD highlight.
    • Some electrics channels affect more lamps than their pattern names suggest.
    • Covet running-light channels may also affect rear markers, plate lamps, or dashboard illumination.

This is an experimental visual mod intended for simulation.

Useful bug reports should include the selected pattern, vehicle configuration, fitted lighting parts, and clear reproduction steps.
