Awesome sound and it has great detail and realism in the sense it is slow but powerful when modded. One question, can this engine be put onto the D-Series trucks? I believe that would become a great combination for towing and "daily driving."

in hind sight i shouldve made this available for the d series, might be gutless with the low torque but could work as some farmer conversion

Since the latest update the idle speed of the engine is way too uneven, and the pre-made diesel configs all seem to spawn with the petrol fuel tank which has to be swapped out in order to make them work. Also, the low-speed diesel config seems unrealistic because even in the early 1960s for taxi use, a car with a top speed of 48mph would have been unacceptably slow.

thanks for notifying me about the issues, my original idea with the low speed configs was just a basic vehicle to ferry people around industrial areas around construction sites and similar, instead of any real road use

Excellent mod; not only is the engine itself realistic, but its application is too, since as I found out from the description page, similar cars were fitted with diesels around this time in real life. A lot of other diesel mods seem to either have an unrealistically high specific output when naturally-aspirated, an unrealistically low one when turbocharged, or only represent aftermarket engineering experiments and not diesels that the car was fitted with from the factory. Driving the Phineas Bluebuck is surprisingly decent at low speeds when you install the 4.10:1 rear final drive (these cars likely would have had a short ratio in real life), but you need to thrash it to do more than 30 - the thing is though that you CAN thrash it because even accelerating under 100% throttle, the diesel engine gets above 14mpg which is more than the V8s in highway cruising. For maximum masochism, try combining the diesel with the 2-speed Dual-Matic instead of the stick shift! Drive that thing for a while and returning to even a base Covet will make you feel like you're piloting a rocketship.

Love underpowered cars, in South America we had some cars and trucks with Perkins Diesel engines most of them was 4 cylinder.

I love slow engines, I`m tired of overpowered cars. Also in EU lot of Perkins diesels were installed into US cars. Thank you
