i love this. its great for chases (if you set the speed of the cops) and it is so optimized, youd almost think it wasnt that big. nice work, and it was worth the wait

      Author's Response
I spent the great part of 2~3 months or something remotely like that figure getting it to run better, trying all kinds of things until I finally 'got good', as they'd say. Then it was so worth it. Then BeamNG updated around last Chris-Mess and it was almost heaven, it pretty-much doubled the FPS! Here some of the optimization process I had been doing just hadn't been totally working as well as it should of, as there weren't various speed-ups done to the renderer that could have benefited from what I was doing with the models. When that all came together, it took 40FPS up to 80~90fps. THAT is then worth all the time spent - but even half that would have.
That took a lot of research and a lot pages worth of chit-chats with those who know more than I did at the time.
Only then could I truly make what I wanted, and I've barely just started moving with this project. Enjoy all the nifty places there are, even if the city isn't even half-done yet.
Thank-you for the good words, too, it helps!
      --Cheers!

i dont think i've ever seen a beamng mod that has GB in the download size, amazing
    1. bob.blunderton
      Author's Response
Yes, much of the size comes from the 900 piece Modular Road Kit or MRK for short. It enables budding map designers the ability to make their own city with all the pieces one could ever want for snapping together their professional-grade cities with a minimal time investment.

This map overwrite other map! this is correct ?
    1. bob.blunderton
      Author's Response
Yes, it says so here, and it says so since yesterday on So-Cal resource thread. This is an evolution of So-Cal Interstate into a huge city. This was the original plan for that map, but unfortunately in 2016 I didn't have the foggiest clue in you-know-where to model things.
With that said, do enjoy this map. This map has all the features the old one had, plus a city with a ton more.
Now who could complain about that?

amazing now make one that runs on a potato for potato users
    1. bob.blunderton
      Author's Response
It will run on a potato, you'll have to use 'lowest' but it will run. Yes, even a 1GB DDR3-eqipped 6570 or 6750 (forget which), at 720p, on low or lowest, runs great. It looks terrible at that but it will run well if that's all you have. Any intel CPU from the 1st-generation i7 series or newer will do, as will any AMD Ryzen CPU.
AMD FX and non-Ryzen APU is not supported but *SHOULD* run, though how well will be configuration specific.
Please respect how much video RAM this uses, and you will have a good (and playable!) time.

Hey, Bob, whenever I try to open the map the game says "error reading png file, bad adaptive filter value". could you please try to fix this in the next update possibly?
    1. bob.blunderton
      Author's Response
I need you to open BeamNG, attempt to load the map, let it error out etc, and close it. Then find your documents\beamng.drive\beamng.log file and put it in a zip file. Send that file to me via the 'start a conversation' feature on here.
If you know a lot about computers, browsing through zip files and such, consider going into the map zip - BOB_CITY_MAP_ALPHA_PATREON_PREVIEW.zip and deleting the levels\tsh\art\buildings\MOTEL folder from the zip. It's not used and was left-over from an older version of the map. It might load then, if I remember correctly. This is an obscure error that only comes up once in a blue moon on very specific system configurations.
If that doesn't work, knock out all the stuff in the levels\art\buildings folder itself EXCEPT NE_Tunnel folder and tell me if it works (only that tunnel is used, and only in one spot two times, with a few decorative rocks around it, it won't be missed if you accidentally delete it anyways). Those folders contain older graphics that support for them was mostly deprecated, and it hasn't been an issue for a very long time.
Let me know if this works, then you don't have to send your log. I'll make sure those around out for future versions or at-least converted to the new format if they get used again. If it does not work, then I will see to getting you a fixed version of the map. If you're not sure how to do that stuff and don't wish to break things anymore, just send your log via the 'start a conversation' feature, or look up the discussion thread under FORUMS>mods>maps and there should be a 45 page forum thread in there that's pretty recent.
      Good luck.

This is great and has great potential, every blank space I see just screams "More awesomeness is coming". Reason for the 4 Stars is there are no Road signs meaning the map is difficult to navigate but I understand that signs are hard to add so take your time. Anyways, fantastic start on this map!
    1. bob.blunderton
      Author's Response
Some signs are already in the map resources, I just haven't placed them yet. If it was delayed again due to lack of sign placement, I'd have been hung in town square by now.
