Improved nighttime lighting, atmosphere, and ambient sounds.

    Custom Nights
Custom Nights adds new improved, adjustable nighttime lighting and atmosphere to BeamNG.drive, completely transforming the driving experience. Choose a lighting mode, tune to your preferences, and save it for seamless use between sessions.

    Features
    • Custom ambient lighting with color, brightness, fog, haze, and water controls.
    • Moonlight spread, an experimental mode with its own brightness setting.
    • Built-in looks and custom presets, with settings remembered between sessions and across maps.
    • Optional wildlife and water ambient sound, distant aircraft lights, and shooting stars.
    • Rear-view Mirrors now work at night. No more black hole when checking your mirrors.
    • Preset import and export for sharing your settings with other users.
    • Automatically fades in as nighttime approaches, meaning no strange or unwanted affects during daytime. Fade in/out cycle works by calculating the angle between the sun and the horizon, meaning the time of year won't cause issues.
    • Settings and custom profiles are stored locally in your BeamNG settings folder, so all of your customization will persist between updates.
    • Optimized for West Coast USA, but the mod is compatible with ALL maps, even modded!

Hi, you may have noticed the option is greyed out. That feature has not yet been implemented but will be included in an upcoming update. Thank you for the review!

A fantastic mod! It makes nighttime in BeamNG much more realistic, and it has many fine-tuning options. In the vanilla game, if you don’t turn on your headlights and there’s no ambient light, you can barely see anything at night, but this mod changes that mechanic, making nighttime exposure more consistent with how the human eye handles exposure. In the past, I basically never set the time to night on BeamNG maps without lighting because I couldn’t see anything—now I can!

This is excellent; I’ve been waiting for this for a long time. In fact, I used to play with the clock disabled so it would never turn to night, because the night in BeamNG was so unrealistic that I didn't feel like playing in it—but that has just changed. Thanks, it’s excellent work!

Sorry devs, but this mod made BeamNG night time enjoyable for the first time ever.
