This is a modification of the popular "Enhanced Chase Camera" Lua script. While the original mod is fantastic, I found two main issues during gameplay:
What this mod changes:
- Downhill Visibility: When driving down steep slopes or ramps (like in Car Jump Arena), the camera would stay too low, blocking the view of the road ahead.
- Excessive FOV: At very high speeds, the "fish-eye" effect became too aggressive, distorting the car and the environment too much.
Comparison:
- Intelligent Slope Compensation: I implemented a new logic that detects when the car is pitching down (descending). The camera now automatically raises its height to maintain a clear view of the horizon and the road ahead. No more looking at your car's roof on steep ramps!
- Refined Dynamic FOV: The Field of View still increases with speed to give that "rush" sensation, but I dialed back the sensitivity. The effect is now smoother, more subtle, and less disorienting at 300km/h+.
- Faster Vertical Response: Adjusted the smoothing values so the camera reacts almost instantly to sudden changes in terrain (jumps/ramps) without being jittery.
Installation:
- Original: Camera stays low on descents (blind spots), FOV stretches heavily at high speed.
- My Version: Camera lifts up on descents (clear view), FOV remains readable while keeping the sense of speed.
