This update fixes the issue of loud engine sounds, has a completely reworked engine file structure, adds 1 engine variant from an existing engine family consisting of 1 preset configuration, and adds 1 new engine family consisting of 7 engine variants and 15 preset configurations (see details below).
** Just a reminder that you CAN'T DOWNLOAD THE NEWEST VERSION ON THIS REPOSITORY. This repository has a maximum upload file size, which my mod has long ago surpassed. I am only posting updates here for people wanting notifications of when there is a new version. The version in this repository is 2022.04.08. For the newest version (2023.01.26) you must download it from 2FastRacing or OneDrive**
** Due to the completely reworked engine file structure (details below), please make sure to delete the old version of the mod. Additionally, if you have saved any vehicle configurations using an engine from this mod, you will have to re-save those configurations. **
Engine Volume (thanks @JoshJoseModding)
The original issue with engine volumes was that they were very loud when compared to the default BeamNG engines. JoshJoseModding showed me which variable I needed to change to lower the volume. I went through every engine currently in the mod to lower the volume to be similar to BeamNG engines so my engines should be noticeably quieter than before.
Reworked Engine File Structure
My original goal for reworking the engine file structure was to reduce the clutter in the parts selector, but it has provided additional benefits as well.
- I have combined all the engine variants per engine family into one file (before I had created a separate file for each variant), which reduced the number of engine files from 411 to 166. This is the reason why I provided the warning at the top since every single engine file got deleted and combined into a completely different file. However, this file re-structure allows me to copy the same engine to multiple vehicles in a less time-consuming manner.
- Now all BeamNG's default engines should be at the top of the list in the parts selector and my engines will be selected at the botton by their engine family name, then by their engine variant. I have added an engine modification slot (similar to the "Engine Block" or "Engine Intake") called "Engine Variant" to select the different displacements and/or years there was a major difference in HP or LB/FT.
- I changed the displacement unit for each engine family according to how Ford advertised them in real life (using cubic inches for older engines and liters for newer engines), versus changing the format per vehicle in BeamNG. This should make it easier for people to know where I've added the engines they've requested. Additionally, if people aren't familiar with Ford's engine's families, it will be easier to google search by the engine's advertised unit.
- I moved all engines that were from the D-Series and Roamer to the Common folder (before I had created separate files in their corresponding folder).
- An overall example using the D-Series:
- Before: In the parts selector you'd have to scroll through a very long engine list to pick the engine you wanted and it was hard to tell where the default engines were. You would pick one of my engines which looked like "3.6L 1948 Flathead V8" or "5.0L 2011 Coyote V8".
- After: Now the engine list is much shorter. You first pick the engine family "Ford Flathead V8" or "Ford Coyote V8". When selecting the engine family it will default the selection to the first one in the list. You can then choose the variant which looks like "221 CUI V8 - 1938" or 5.0L V8 - 2011".

Also, you should check out the Hoonicorn mod created by Fordster and Foxbody in honor of Ken Block #RipKenBlock.
My plan for the next update is to finish the Triton engine family by adding the 5.4L V8 (the 4.6L V8 and 6.8L V10 are already added). I also hope to provide some optimizations to hopefully reduce the mod's size.
