Beta Nevada Interstate (prequel to So-Cal Interstate) 9.0

The loop of highway in the desert that doesn't know 'it's not a race track'.

  1. bob.blunderton
This should be working as of March 2019 again on 0.15 thanks to a hot-fix.

Showing the highway, and the nearby dam which you can drive across.

First, make sure you have no dupes in your folder prior to loading the game. If there are obvious errors or problems loading, check for dupes.

    Version 9 fixes:
    guide-rail texture (dependency) error,
wall texture error (for Nvidia drivers),
    random road texture glitches,
    mis-matched dirt-road trails decals,
removes not needed duplicates of things (mapping error on my part?), random erroneous 1-foot lump in highway removed, and also...
MASSIVE IMPROVEMENT TO FPS 2X-5X BETTER. 45~100+ FPS NOW where before it was only 20~80fps. Do enjoy!

Driving the highway (almost the whole loop circut) in morning with fog:
Video kindly provided by @fufsgfen - thanks.
This fog really gives this map a feeling of immersion, I'm sorry I missed the opportunity to put it in this release, maybe next time!

This mod gets dropped into your map mods directory like all others.
Bugs like scrambled/missing decal roads, mismatched bridge heights, NOTEXTURE's, etc will result if you do not. Only keep this Nevada file and delete the others!
If you still get weird bugs or mismatches, CLEAR CACHE, especially if you just upgraded from 4.0/7.0!

No, Seriously, if you keep multiple versions, you're asking for it.
If you extract your levels for faster loading, it will appear with the 'hiway2' folder name as that's the codename/project name for this map.
The old version is in no way better than this, trust me. This has MOAR!

Are you SURE you don't have the old version, GOOD! Now continue :)

This file is about 360MB zipped and about 578mb uncompressed.
GPU RAM on HIGHEST detail is around 3.5gb of VRAM used.
System ram used is around 3~4gb for the game engine itself, plus any additional required by the user interface app that runs with the game.
Any computer with 4gb or more of system RAM that meets the base requirements for this game should run this. There are no TREES here.
A modern high-clocked i7k-series CPU will run 6+ cars easily here.

Bug fixes and improvements listed at the top for 9.0.

If you liked my recent public release of So-Cal Interstate, you'll enjoy this one almost as much, without so much getting lost :)
This will not conflict with the Black Hills or So-Cal maps or any other map.

*credits to Ouerbacker for the terrain, terrain graphics, plant graphics, town placement (except for the corner store i put there), building/sign models that are in. Light poles from Ghost's map. This was originally the map known as Black Hills, and I have gained full written permission to use this map as a base for this project. I did the road placement, highway placement, almost all roadway/paved runway graphics (except the very light 2-lane road going through the town, dirt path, and dirt runway graphics), etc.

Thanks to all the poor souls (beta testers) who suffered through the 1st release way back near the beginning of the year that made a big mess until I figured out how to properly distribute a map (no worries now). It would have been nice if there was more written docs, then.

THIS MAP IS POTATO PC FRIENDLY. It's about 15~25% faster than So-Cal Interstate. Results may vary. Radeon 7850 2gb = 45~60 fps.
This map is 'feature complete' and 'detail complete'.
I am committed to maintaining all my map resources I publish, let me know if there are any issues or bugs in the discussion forum
You can access the discussion forum if you have more comments or questions or need technical assistance with the map. Press the discussion tab at the top, and post what you need to, if there's a problem, pictures help a bunch.

Once again, Thanks Ouerbacker, your willingness with letting me make these mods to your black hills to the point where it barely resembles it's old self except the terrain ~ thanks!
I even finished the tunnel for you ~ the very thing that made me start modding Beamng.drive (well, this map AND desert highway map).

Map contains some textures from textures.com free section (though, all have been extensively modified).
My asphalt roadway textures should be considered 'free to use' by anyone registered to the Beamng.drive forums. I didn't just make this for me - I made it for everyone.
I only ask you message me when you upload your contribution to the Beam site here, so I can check it out and see what you've done with it.
People who message me/post in the forum saying the map is seriously broken due to a version mismatch, old files conflicting, etc, or aren't on Beamng.drive 0.8.x, might become the butt of jokes, pictured on billboard throughout the map in future versions.
    You have been warned :)
Though, that being said, tech support or legitimate complaints/nit-picks or general feedback is highly appreciated. I always have time to help folks with their Beamng.drive situations.

Yes I get you 100%. I love this mod. Still have a trouble ticket in with the developers about it. I have tried deleting tons of assets and can't figure out what's stopping this from loading. Also, another person can load it below, he may have fewer mods than you or I, but I am looking into what's causing the instability with the game. When I find out what's causing it, I will post the fix OR a how-to & send you a message. I want to play it too (I love this map), so you're not the only one!
Rest assured, it's being looked into (but I can't do much until the dev's get back on it or there's some type of game update). In the mean-time, try deleting the cache folder for this map which is:
      Remove only this folder.
Move your mods (Except if you wish to add back a vehicle or something that you want to drive in it), to a safe place like a folder on the desktop or something similar, and try loading it then. It may or may not load for you.
Will make effort to see if adding old model cache from old game version will help fix this. I have an old game version here (13.x) that it fires right up in - but this map DOES have OLD assets dating back 3+ years, so who knows.
Will keep you informed. If you get any luck getting it running, let me know in discussion forum for this map or message me directly.

I will look into this more over the coming week. Thanks for letting me know, and enjoy the map.

This was my first map, an almost-complete overhaul of the road network, adding many times more roads, done with permission from the original author of Black Hills. It was too few roads in the original map, to not have more chance to view the scenery, or cruise on a highway to seemingly nowhere in the desert.

Awesome map. Lots of roads, long straights and even some mountain roads. It runs really well on my computer as well. The so cal map so laggy i couldn't even play it.

This has a little bit of everything as it was my first map. I am glad you enjoyed the diversity this map has to offer.
So-Cal isn't optimized, AT ALL. It's terrible in it's current state - Nevada has been optimized, so it'll run a lot better (and it's also a smaller map slightly).
I am actually going to kill off that So-Cal map in favor of a much better version that's coming out in a few months as a pre-release Beta.

      Glad you checked them out!

This map is absolutely amazing. My computer absolutely sucks and when I looked at the size of the download, I knew it was going to be a mess. I was completely wrong. This map runs very well and It only lags a little bit. Thank you so much for this map :)

Awesome, glad you like it. This was my first mapping project, but it had quite a bit of tidying up last year so it should be awesome. It doesn't take nearly as much PC power to run this as does my Roane County map, so you should be in the clear, even if you only have a 750 ti or a Radeon HD 7850 2gb (max settings or close, on the 2nd one).
If you get a little lag with the video, turn off dynamic reflections, or if your processor is the slow part of the PC, turn off shadows or set them to 'player only'. This should help you. Check out So-Cal Interstate (it's a little more laggy) as it's more of the same less the buildings. It's just roads and terrain.
Nevada Interstate was built with permission from Ouerbacker's Black Hills 2015 map - a great but rather empty and under-utilized map.
--Cheers and yes, you're very welcome.

This map is the fastest and largest map I have. It is by far my favorite, and every time I have a chase something new happens! Never gets old.

Glad you enjoy it, the AI should work well, it was tested rather extensively. Check out So-Cal interstate also if you like this one, as it's the sequel to this map. It doesn't have the buildings (yet) but it's got a ton of roads and highways to explore (much more than this one does).

Glad you enjoyed this map. It was made for chasing, crashing, and mindlessly milling about :)
Surprised anyone found it actually. This dusty old thing can be quite a bit of fun. I will have one way roads on it eventually... don't hold breath though as I don't know when it's going to be.
If you use the AI debug panel you can see what the roads are if you enable the AI UI panel and turn on NAVGRAPH or whatever it's called, it shows the nodes name and road name if it has one. Then select that for target - if they're not all confusingly named decal-road.
This was originally @Ouerbacker 's map, Black Hills, remade with permission.
      Thanks for writing in!

Really great job out there! I always struggled to mantain the fps on this map, But always loved it, Hope with the update everything runs better so I can really dig on your map! Nice work and thanks for the asphalt textures, might use them for my maps! Keep it up!

Glad you enjoyed it, this map is made for an enjoyable time both driving alone just cruising or racing down the varied amount of turns interspersed with winding mountainous sections of highway and side-routes, and also for chasing the AI around until you or it gets dizzy. To that end, glad you enjoyed it, and hope you continue to have much fun in the future. You'll also like So-Cal Interstate if you like this, but that map gets slow in spots. Update for So-Cal coming soon to fix it's FPS. Roane County is also another map of mine, I am sure you can find it if you already haven't been playing. Do enjoy the maps and look for my soon-to-debut (this month sometime) Tail of the Dragon map - a real roadway straight out of the Tennessee mountains! --Cheers!

I know right? Thanks for the kind words. There's quite a few semi-hidden jumps integrated into the landscape, and a few more-than-obvious giant lumps of earth laying about. There is a large concrete airport that's semi-hidden off the beaten-path though, if you're into flying, don't miss out on it's 1.1 mile long runway (with a big jump past the end of it).
You'll have quite a bit of fun with chasing the AI on this map, as it should work 100%, so if you have a capable processor, do indulge yourself a bit.

I really love this map! Especially driving at night thru expressway with the sunburst flat4 sound mod, almost an impreza :) and see how reflecting the lights on the body. Downhilling from mountain on the winding roads just another thing. Fun to drive.

      Author's Response
Well glad my efforts to revamp the highway largely for 7.0 didn't go unnoticed, I did a lot of smoothing & re-banking for that version - what in the end was basically rebuilding most of the entire highway. The curves in the highway, winding in and out of the mountains and hills making up much of the map, are meant to challenge even more experienced drivers. It's easy to lose control and under-estimate some of the corners, as they're designed this way. Also, each direction on the highway is a slightly different experience as in some spots the two sides take separate routes.
This release was for the most part a bug-fix, so that the walls didn't go orange for Nvidia users (and from the feedback I am getting, no bug reports, etc, I will assume all is well as it is here on my end). Glad you enjoyed this map as much as you did. The environment was originally Ouerbacker's Black Hills 2015, with permission, I added the highway and created all the textures the highway uses, the bridges (there were no bridges in this map, and half of one tunnel, and no highway when I started) etc. This was my first map, and what once was a rough effort to make a highway, was able to be fully realized into the winding, twisting, almost rocky-mountain style of race track I originally envisioned it to be. This was one of the most fun ones to make, though. The many four lane routes and all the mountainous winding roads are my doing too, so when you get sick of the highway, take an off ramp and have a tour if you haven't already! --Thanks for writing in.
