Amazing map, great quality and extremely accurate!

(Also thank you so much for the 'official looking' thumbnails, my OCD thanks you too)

*I can't find a discussion tab for this map so re-rating to say this works fine for me with relatively good loading times (<60 seconds) for a map this size. Unsure why some other people reviewing are having issues but it is likely not the map, but their PC

(Although its hard to say considering I have 32GB RAM :P )

Pros - large, well thought-out, and looks amazing. Cons, the only place it loads from is the starting line - any other spawn point freezes the game.

Thanks for figuring that out. Ill fix the spawn points.

Can't even load it. 16 GB of RAM apparently makes no difference - game is stuck on "loading ..." and is not responding.

I know this Pikes Peak map is awesome, but I literally cannot run it for some reason. I can run Tennessee which needs 8GB of RAM but the game gets stuck during loading on "Building roads". BeamNG uses about this much RAM and then stops https://i.imgur.com/psHg8Ur.png

Wow, what may be the first map with a true 8192 x 8192 terrain block. Surprising, as I had tried many, many times to get one to load up and it wouldn't (as such, my maps are 4096x4096 terrain blocks with a stretch).
As a person who've been mapping for over two and a half years, and made 4 fairly competent maps thus far (working on a 5th, which is a major major overhaul of one of those), it's amazing what gets done when you see it through to the end.

Performs nicely and looks & plays good enough that I won't complain about little things here or there, like guard rail height inconsistency.

    Great work overall!

Only things I can recommend is to try and touch up those road edges (though this would be very time consuming, I'm talking weeks of spare time, so I get it if it's a lot), and mind the few rocks in the road (2~3 on the right side going up, one of them is very borderline on the white line, and one on the left). Guard-rail height noted above is not big on this list, but it's there.

Still, that being said, this is a really awesome map and surely the BeamNG fans and the Youtuber's alike will absolutely eat this up. As a mapper who's made a similar-styled map (single-route, non-looping serpentine mountain roadway) 'Tail of The Dragon', I can attest that it's a LOT of work for one road. LOTS of work. Though, that being said, it's a whole lot of accomplishment when you finally complete it enough to make is playable, and get it furnished up to make it immersive.

Immersion is key, and this map has it, though, a car with a cushy suspension might be a go-to if you have a non-lidded drink in the cup holder.

No, really, it's good, and we need more maps like this! LIDAR is a boon to this community and hats off to you for making use of it. I would hope you choose to make more maps, it's very fun, and very rewarding.

So for everyone who's still reading, great, grab this, you should already be downloading it already anyways, this is so NOT a shoe-box panorama, gosh I hate those things :)

    --Cheers!

Oh, and lastly, before I forget, going to have a great time throwing pianos off the top of this!

Thanks for the review. It's very cool to get a fellow map makers opinion. There are definety some rough edges, literally, but I never planned on finishing it up to the point of it being polished. I definitely have some fresh ideas and drive now so it should be easier to accomplish now.

Awesome, just watched the Roadkill episode where they drive to the to in a 67 Biscayne. Now if only there was a mod for 67 Biscayne.

we had a Pikes Peak map back in 2014, it wasn't highly detailed but it was still a nice map to drive on, having been to Pikes Peak in 2016 I can say this is a really accurate representation of what Pikes Peak looks like

I was at pikes peak several days ago, and this is basically 1 for 1 modeling (minus the construction at the top), Pikes peak was always fun for me to drive up (been up it 3 time already).

Its perfect for replicating Climbkhana with the "Moonicorn" (I forget what mod pack it is in, but it basically contains Hoonigan's cars, namely the Hoonicorn)

keep up the good work man 10/10

Great map, very accurate. With the way the cars in BeamNG drive though, I find the whole driving experience not as realistic as other games I've played. But that's on the actual game developers side, the overall map is great.

Note: There's a random hole outside the map for some reason.

Its still tricky to do a lot of low traction maneuvers in this game, so I know what you mean. It could also be that this game doesn't code in how the cars handle, like other games do; they just do what a car is designed to do naturally. As for holes and cracks; the areas beyond the track are a minefield of them most of which you'll never see, but if there's anything impeding your fun PM me a pic of where they are and I'll try to patch them.

The slight bumpiness will be perfect the dirt version. That's always been my favorite flavor of hill climb. It would be very simple to add that feature, with the perfect dirt texture set.

Great job man, best version of Pikes Peak yet! Having a somewhat bumpy ride as you warned about but not as bad as i thought. Drifting from the starting line to the summit in a Grand Marshal is good fun!

Need to review this version too as it is awesome ;)

It is amazing how many corners link so well to each other, no wonder this is place to race IRL as it is almost like designed to be a race track, except it is road up to mountain.

I will probably never get to visit real location and certainly not get to drive like a madman, but this virtual version is giving possibility to experience all the awesomeness of the real thing.
