Alpha Realistic 18 speed for T-Series 1.1

realistic range/splitter inputs and gearing base on a real 18 speed

    Hi all!

Here's my first mod. It's basically a more realistic transmission that simulates having a range and splitter like the real 18 speeds have.

I based the gearing off of an Eaton Fuller 18 speed (https://www.eaton.com/content/dam/e...eed-transmissions-brochure-trsl0250-en-us.pdf).

To use this mod, you'll have to map the splitter and range controls to separate buttons (they will be under the vehicle-specific controls for the T-series). You're essentially using two transfercases. I like mapping the splitter to the left paddle of my wheel and the range to the right paddle. That way, you can use your right hand to shift and your left hand to steer + split gears. You should be changing the range a lot less, so you can use your right hand for that.

The basic layout of the gears is as follows:

The base gears are L, 1, 2, 3, 4. In game, it maps to 1-5 gears. L should only be needed for super low speeds or starting on hills with large loads.

Here's the shift pattern from Eaton:

I will post a video showing the basic use case, but there are a couple ways to shift efficiently:
    - With no load, you can start in low range, low splitter, and just shift through 1-4 (this will be 2-5 on your h-pattern) like normal. To go from 4 to 5, you should switch range to high and go to the "first" gear position (2 on your h-pattern). Then you can shift through 1-4 again, but it will be 5-8.
    - With a heavy load, you will probably be able to start in low range, low splitter, and in L gear (1 on your h-pattern). You should be able to shift through l-4 without using the splitter. Once you get to 5th gear (as explained above), you can start splitting gears. Basically, use the splitter to lower your RPMs a bit and "split" the gear. So you would be in 5th, low splitter, then go to high splitter, then go to 6th, low splitter, then high, etc etc.

Once you get the hang of it, you'll love the versatility of being able to control the really low speed stuff as well as the high speed control that the splitter gives.

I've included only 1 configuration using the T75. To apply the transmission to your config, you will have to change the transmission to "Eaton Fuller 18" and the "Front Rear Axle Driveshaft" to "EF18 driveshaft".

Enjoy! and please report any bugs or suggestions.

Future Plans: allow "pre-selecting" the splitter so that you can select the splitter and then lift off the throttle to split.

Probably one of the best transmission mods made, I honestly cannot use the regular transmissions anymore after using this mod

Love the mod man, thanks for the shoutout and no worries helping you test it! Anytime man!

I love the idea of a realistic Eaton, for me though neither the splitter or the range selector work. Is the mod broken currently? Would love to use this when it's in a working state.

@stonedscott Hey, sorry it wasn't working for you. Just curious, did you map the range and splitter controls? It should be working on the current version.

Also curious if you were using the included configuration? If you're making your own configuration, make sure you pick the transmission and the "Front axle rear driveshaft" from this mod.

Let me know if you tried both of those things and if it's still broken I'd love to figure it out
