Beta River Highway 1.5.1

A huge 8x8km map with over 200km/125mi of roads to explore.

  1. Functional fuel stations

    All 6 fuel stations are now functional. You will be able to refuel your vehicles just like in the official maps.

    Minor fix: a terrain hole was spotted in the terrain above the valley rail tunnel and is now patched.
  2. v1.5 Highway reroute, town replacement, and more.

    • Major rework around the dam and mountains. A large amount of the mountain has been removed. Highway extended with a new tunnel and replacement of the old one. Old interchange and fuel station removed. Dam loop road modified for these changes.
    • Lighting improvements, especially during sunrise/sunset.
    • Continuation of central town replacement, removal of old East Coast USA town block model. A few new models have been added.

  3. v1.4 Railway completion and much more

    • Replaced railway, it is now fully functional for trains. Many regions surrounding the railway have been adjusted.
    • Partially replaced the central town, there are plans for a full replacement in the future. Roads nearby have been rerouted to be more gridlike and there are now fewer level crossings.
    • Replacement of many custom models with higher quality versions. Bridges in particular have been given a major overhaul.

  4. Fixed for 0.27

    The tree imposters are now correct.

    Alongside this change was a significant overhaul to the internal files and folder structure.
    • art_v2 is no longer in use, all trees are under art.
    • All large trees from the old east coast USA have been removed and replaced by new ones.
    Other (minor) fixes were made to reduce the number of errors logged in the console.
  5. v1.3 Expansion

    • Added content to the north-east corner including beaches and many more roads.
    • Cleanup of preexisting roads, terrain, forests and more.
    • Increased vegetation and groundcover variation
    • Replaced the small dam at the end of the river with rocks and a waterfall.
    • Colours adjusted again. Default time of day is now a little earlier.
    • There are now lights in key areas including the airport that turn on at night

  6. Fixed runway material

    unyxium
    The terrain changes made in v1.2 messed up the runway material and turned it into mud. This has now been fixed.
  7. v1.2 Cleanup, improved textures, and PBR

    This update does not have much in terms of content added, rather, already existing content has been improved.
    • Changed many terrain textures (see new screenshots).
    • Mipmapping has been added to terrain textures and more.
    • The highway north of default spawn (away from the town) has been rerouted to smoothly follow the river. Some other roads have been extended to meet up with others.

  8. Texture improvements and other small fixes

    • Important textures (mainly ground and roads) were updated to include mipmaps, improving the visual quality of the map by reducing graininess. Crops were not fixed in this update but they are planned to be later.

    • Reduced grass cover range to 150. This has the effect of increasing the density of grass. Overall count was also reduced but not enough to reduce the resultant density.

  9. Overall improvements and expansion

    There are too many changes to list! Here are the notable ones:
    • Completed all unfinished highways to form the 2 main loops planned from the start (which make a figure 8). It is possible to drive along all highways without reaching any road ends. When loading the map, 227km of road is reported now.
    • Added trees to cover areas of the map that are not finished and hide areas from view when driving on the usable roads.

  10. Various fixes and adjustments in response to reviews

    • Darkened grass and asphalt terrain materials so they aren't as vibrant.
    • Reduced grass groundcover to 20% what it was originally. This should fix the performance issues mentioned many times in reviews. The map still requires more resources than official maps, but stuttering should be almost gone.
    • Fixed terrain material physics such as sand which now allows vehicles to sink in slightly.
