Running Late Again (Gull) 1.2

Drive to the city! Watch out for traffic and other hazards!

  1. Gamergull
This is an older scenario, made before the Traffic Tool days. The latest update just fixes a little boo boo. Enjoy!

    Warning:
    CPU intensive!

    Warning: Traffic can be silly!

New traffic scenario! It's finally done. After almost getting cancelled twice, and over 500 lines of code later, it's ready to release. Your goal is to make it to the important meeting before time runs out. You can pick any vehicle you want, whether it's an old school muscle car, a new tuner car, a police car, or something crazier. Drive all the way to the city, but watch out for traffic! The goal time isn't too strict, so you can do it in a variety of vehicles. There are 9 different win texts you can get at the end; can you get them all? Try driving all kinds of vehicles to get them!

This scenario is intense. I tested it with a Ryzen 5 2600 6-Core CPU and a NVidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti GPU, and was able to get an average of 30 FPS @ 1080p on High settings. How well does this run for you? Let me know in the comments!

    Features:
    • Less Intense and More Intense modes! What can your PC run?
    • Unpredictable traffic
    • Many different win and lose conditions
    • New features and easter eggs!
    • Horn based cheat mode! (Removes time and damage fails)
    Known issues:
    • Traffic can be nonsense sometimes

    Brilliant. Runs fine on a i7 3770K @4Ghz/32GB/980ti.
It's actually quite addictive and fun (what's the most counterintuitive vehicle that can actually make it?).
    A few points, though:
-the mod often deems you totaled or busted when your car could still drive away easily/there's no way any cop would've had the time to get out safely and shoot/threaten you.....frustrating!
-some vehicles are unselectable, I suspect it has to do with not having a proper .json for the mod....will have to check
-would it be possible to select the vehicles eligible for use as traffic, for more variety? And a random target/path option to keep it fresh?

I'll say it again: your mods are awesome!

Thanks! Yeah, I've had someone else say that 3 seconds is way too short for the arrest timer. I wanted to make it challenging and likely that the player could have their run end that way. I could possibly change that. The traffic vehicles are somewhat hardcoded in the scenario; you can change them in the .prefab file, but not really with the game UI as scenarios have certain limitations to that. I was toying with the idea of multiple routes, but alas, I'm focusing intensely on my current project now and not any scenarios. Hard to say if this will even get a V1.2 update.

    Runs excellent on my laptop
    1080p everything maxxed out
So i guess it would run even better on my desktop
It would be even better if you could make an ultra alive version
And also when you hit free roam the traffic should not disappear
I would even pay for this mod
    BIG BRAVO

This is the future of this game, no seriously. Driving with this amount of traffic makes it so much more immersive. The way you achieved this is very creative. Are you planning on a "free mode" scenario for West Coast USA too? Like you did with the East Coast USA map.
    Runs fine on my i7 3770K @4.1GHz + 1070Ti (40-50FPS, hard to run mode)

Yup! It's harder, as West Coast roads are quite different, so I have to write a lot of new code. Trying to get this done in a week.

Ryzen 5 2600, Zotac GeForce 1060 6GB, 16GB RAM, runs "More Intense" mode fine with barely-noticeable if any framerate issues, gets wickedly hot but that might be my fault for not having enough fans. Great job on this scenario and traffic, even if having the traffic actively get out of your way is a little unrealistic (in my experience, being in a hurry attracts oblivious slowpokes).

One thing I might adjust is that the roadblocks can be just a little too effective in some spots, with the concrete barriers blocking not just the road but also any off-road areas you might use to slip past, and the cop car subtly moving back and forth in its space to keep you from pushing past.

Love this mod! I have a very similar setup as yours with a Ryzen 5 1600 and GTX 1050 TI and I also get around 30-40fps
