I love this mod! But is there any way to make it muffled on the outside and only be heard on the inside?

      Author's Response
Hi, I will try to see if that can be done for a future update. P.S. stay tuned for there is a significant update that I just published and it should post in the next few days after being approved.

Excellent mod! Had to work out how to make it work on Linux (tutorial below), but once I got it working It's been super fun to drive around without needing a browser tab open!

Unofficial tutorial for how to make the stereo system mod work on the Linux port of BeamNG (the actual port, not run through a compatibility layer. such as proton) as of version 0.27:
    [Tested on Pop_OS! 22.04]

    -Install mod through in-game repo
-Unpack the mod through in-game menu [Go to the mods menu, then "mods manager". Then click on this mod, in there you should be able to unpack it]
    -Close BeamNG
    -Navigate to ~/.local/share/BeamNG.drive/0.27/mods/unpacked/stereo_system/
[This tutorial may still work in later game versions, simply replace "0.27" with whatever version you're in now"]
-Create a folder called "music" (without the quotes) in the directory you are in currently
-Place MP3's/WAV's of your choice in there
-start beamng and have fun, the mod should work as intended once installed!

there are probably other ways of doing it, but this is what worked for me

Really glad I can play custom music files in the game instead of having to run spotify in the background thanks to this mod, but is there a way to stop songs from repeating after they finished and play the next song afterwards?
    1. badriverequisite
      Author's Response
Hi, I really want this feature too. If it was simple to implement it would have been in the very first release of this mod. Unfortunately the sound API that the devs exposed to LUA scripts is pretty limited. There is a solution I’m trying to get to work but it’s complicated and doesn’t work as expected at this time. I will be working more on this mod this year so there will be updates and hopefully I can get the alternate solution working (or even another solution altogether). If I can figure something out this will definitely be added. Thanks for the rating and stay tuned for more updates.

It works well, but if you want it to work you MUST ONLY USE THE FILES IN .WAV FORMAT otherwise, for me atleast, it doesn't work. When you turn the music on and go into first person camera, it sounds muffled, but when you go into thirdperson it sounds clear, i think it should be the opposite. Nice mod (cock).

I am not sure why you are having this issue. It should support mp3 files. If you are still having this issue feel free to DM me.

Its pretty amazing but there are 2 weird things about this mod. When you stall the car the music turns off, usually it would be fine since you could just turn on the car and the music should go on as usual but the thing is that the song completely restarts and youd have to relisten to it or just skip it which i find very annoying lol. And when you go on first person mode the song acts like its outside instead of inside for some reason, is it on purpose? Either way i love this mod but its ashame that these problems occur, Great job!
    1. badriverequisite
      Author's Response
These issues are due to the limited audio API that the dev's have made accessible to the lua scripts. Unfortunately, I cannot do anything about these issues at this time.

it seems like a good mod, but i have to ask, are you going to add support for .flac and .m4a? theyre the only file type i have, so i cant actually listen to anything
    1. badriverequisite
      Author's Response
The sound API that is accessible to the lua scripts does not support m4a or flac. Unless that changes, I can’t do anything about it unfortunately.

Very cool mod, glad to see some sort of Radio being developed! I know the issue with the muffle being inside is game engine and all but if you could crack that and reverse the effect it would be perfect. A quick feature suggestion would be if you crash hard enough it cuts the radio or if you open the door (this would require integration with the openable mod) after you shut the motor down the cuts the radio just like irl. Thank you very much for creating this i've had a lot of fun bumping tunes in my etk!
    1. badriverequisite
      Author's Response
The stereo system will stop working if the engine stalls. If you crash the vehicle in such a way that causes the engine to stall you will see this effect. I have thought about adding the feature where it turns off/on as the engine does, I just haven’t implemented it. Thanks for the rating, and I’m glad you’re enjoying it.

Looks like a great mod, however for me it keeps on saying "no tracks were added to the music folder" even when I have tracks in the correct folder and location.
    1. badriverequisite
      Author's Response
The pressing of the “]” key is not necessary before turning on the stereo system. The vehicle automatically loads the files when initially spawned or physics is reset. The scan feature is only necessary if you wish to load new files without hard resetting the vehicle.

i just now created music folder but i have a question where do i get the music from
    1. badriverequisite
      Author's Response
There are many ways. You could rip music from old CDs that you have, purchase mp3s/wavs from online music services such as Spotify and YouTube Music, or you could torrent songs or even convert YouTube videos to mp3 files. Note that the last two options should only be done for non copyrighted materials.

I really hope this mod gets worked on until we get an actual radio (or dvd screen) in every car! For now looks really promising! What would rock is for it to be able to play an actual stream from an internet radio station...

question, where should i put the music if i change the location of my userfolder?
    1. badriverequisite
      Author's Response
If you change the location of your user folder, just put it in the version_folder of that directory. For example if your user folder is in Desktop you would put the music folder in Desktop/[my_user_folder]/[version_folder] (version_folder is 0.22 as of writing this). Thanks for the rating!

Great concept. Executed very well! Now all ya gotta do is implement an actual radio broadcast with switchable channels! And perhaps a display on the dash, like the "Beam Navigator," except it's an info-tainment screen! (kidding, this would take a lot of work with things I don't even know the name of. But maybe if some other folks with a variety of knowledge got involved it could come to fruition!) sorry.... I'm an enormous car audio geek;... Sweet mod, smooth as butter and def brings some ambience to the game!!!

I was going to complain because there wasn't an option to lower the music volume, until I've realized you can control it within the game settings. Amazing! So well integrated.

    How to enjoy this mod:
    -Download the Vice City soundtrack
    -Download the Vice City map
-Set the ingame time to afternoon
-Start cruising your gray ETK I-Series with Crockett's Theme in the stereo.

I cannot wait to see where this mod goes. Good on you for taking this challenge on as I am sure it is not easy! I look forward to the future and I hope you can figure out the muffled interior/exterior problem. If that is fixed in an update it will be amazing! Thanks for doing this.

Love the mod! Works pretty good, I just have a feature request. Have you considered adding an option to have the sound appear muffled or inaudible when you are outside the car but being able to hear it when inside?
    1. badriverequisite
      Author's Response
Thank you! Yes, I have actually thought about doing that but I first have to figure out how to get past the known issue of the music in the interior being quiet and muffled.
