Perfect map! Maybe make some city map?

I do have one planned, as soon as I find out an editor feature that I needed (which was broken in 0.9) is fixed on the shape editor, I will move ahead with that. I have many of the models for it already. It will be truly awesome, I'd look for news on that by the time we hit BETA stages of the game updates, or sometime this fall as it'll take a while. It'll be no GTA but it'll surely be quite entertaining.
For a town scene if you'd like, Roane County's Harriman start-point has a fairly large 8x6 block town - about 80% done, and another town almost that big but more spread out, about half-done.
--Thanks for the review and suggestion!

This is an excellent map, details on the road are absolutely amazing!!!

You can definitely tell this is a labor of love, and I am grateful you have shared this with everyone.

Yes, it's great fun and very rewarding to make maps. Wanted to do this since the MS-DOS Doom days about 21~23 years or so ago, and now I can. I have much planned to come in the months/year or more ahead.
      --Thanks for the compliments.

Thanks, in a game where you can do anything, why not make a road close to home (2 hours away) that's super fun/challenging and attracts folks from all over the country (or even further!) to drive it. You can't go wrong with that, as it was the single most-requested road/map project out there.
      --Cheers!

Best mod map ever made. Simply fantastic.

      Author's Response
I am glad it held up to expectations as well as it did, it makes it quite worth all the time I spent on making it. I knew it couldn't turn out too bad when I was done testing sufficiently at various built-points on the map, and I did not want to stop testing. I only wish I could add more terrains but I don't think tiled terrain support is in yet. It will be one day, or at-least it's on the road-map for planned features. There's so many of these roads with trees & cliffs or a bunch of one or the other down here in Tennessee, I love driving down here. Over-all, while making maps can sometimes be monotonous at times, even down-right grueling, it's totally worth it when it finally passes muster and you can share your creation with others.
I feel good knowing I have brought a good time to so many people and will continue to do so for as long as I am able.
Also, all this time I've spent watching people play this and other driving games (even 'arcade' style driving games like GTA and NFS), and tried to figure out what was fun (like the jumps in Harriman town in Roane County map for this game), and try to stuff as much fun as I can per megabyte into everything I make.
This is for all those late-90s gamers who were fans of the ALPINE track in Need for Speed II or III, I know I sure was a big fan of it!
--Cheers, and thanks for the short but sweet review!

YOU HAVE TO FREAKING IDEA HOW HAPPY THIS MAKES ME! I live on US129 about 3 miles north of the tail of the dragon. You do not even know how many times I have ridden my sport bike or driven my car through there multiple times wondering, thinking, and hoping some day someone would make this for a video game.
    1. bob.blunderton
      Author's Response
Well it is now in the game, officially! Thank all those folks who requested it but I forget who they were (oops!) - oh well, surely they're happy as you are right now. Do enjoy the route and more detail may come in the future as I put a little time here and there into this. I am from Tennessee, so, this is my second Tennessee map. If you hadn't had a chance to try...
I made Roane County (and a small eastern slice of Cumberland County is there past Airport road too), which includes an airport (by the time change on US 40), Kingston, Harriman (both mostly done), and Rockwood (which isn't much started, lots of the roads are in though not all), and also in the future Westell and some town south of Rockwood I forget what it's called, which aren't even started at all (though the main routes are all in). So go have a drive on what is the largest terrain-based Beamng.drive map if you haven't thus far, once you're done here. It's huuuuuge!
Don't blame you for being so hyped, I put a lot of time & care into this one, and it's close to home. Good to hear from a local to the area.
      --Cheers & thanks for reviewing!

Do I need to specify what's great about this map? Anything bob.blunderton makes is amazing and done with a professional-like quality. He makes his map as if he truly is designing and laying out highways and road in real life. Not to mention he is one of the most kind and helpful people I've talked to. This map is just another great addition to BeamNG.
    1. bob.blunderton
      Author's Response
Yes this is accurate, real terrain, with the real road network (most of it, but the whole main route is in, yes), and truckloads of trees. Thanks for noticing, I do try to put time into making the roads appear as close to real road/highway D.O.T. spec as I can get them to be. I mean, it's 2017, I am sure we can have a realistic roadway system by now in a computer game, right? I have actually referenced those specifications for US highway and roadways especially when doing Tennessee and some of my other maps, too. Glad someone notices after-all that mucking about and getting technical. To that end, part of the reason was due to the fact that this way my maps can be used to do crash re-creation or train police officers, or even train folks trying to get a real driver's license, among other things. Or you can just find new ways to drag pianos through the map... it's not my call!
--Thanks for the review and kind words.

"Wow, they even modeled the fast corners by the lake at the bottom. I wonder how far they went?""oh."

Seriously, I love this map. Not perfect, it's missing a certain landmark tree and a couple statues, but the road itself it pretty much spot-on. Nice to drive at reasonable speeds, fun and challenging to drive fast.

      Author's Response
The "Tree of Shame" may appear in a later version down the line somewhere, possibly with some statues or something similar. Glad you enjoyed this map, took me long enough!

NFS style, very clean road =)
    Perfect job =)

      Author's Response
NFS Style = we need more of these here at BeamNG! Yes, I tried to keep the roadway clear and open as the corners are challenging enough and usually rather devastating in themselves if you fail one. This way the drifters have plenty of roadway to get on by with. Glad you had a good time.

Well than this has your name written all over it! It's surely not got the mileage my other maps do, but this is quality over quantity this time around. Those folks out there that loved ALPINE from Need For Speed series will love this one.

I'm loving this map right now. I really like maps where I am able to just drive continuously for a while. This map also looks amazing, the level of detail used here, while not perfect, is really good, and its helping the map instead of hurting it. I am looking forward to see more of your work! :)
    1. bob.blunderton
      Author's Response
I still have a little work to do on detailing the edges of the road in spots, but it's far enough along to not keep folks waiting any longer. Glad you enjoyed this as much as you did. The editor ate my forest applicator brush at the moment so I must re-build the forest applicator brush, but when I do in the future, I will continue adding more and more detail, and do some optimizing as needed so FPS will be better and not worse.

A highly detailed, technical road. This map is an absolute blast to drift on. The roads are banked very well and have a very natural feel to them with some minor bumps. The forest and creek are beautiful and almost distracting while driving through, and the view from the Calderwood lookout is great. Another fantastic map by bob!

      Author's Response
Well you finally get to enjoy the map after all that waiting, thanks for keeping up with the thread and offering the input you did. This was a much-requested route so I wanted to get this out there - but not before it was completed enough to enjoy, and still be immersive - especially the lookout.

Couldn't have been possible without this awesome game and all it's great features. I wanted to do things like this since I started editing Doom maps on my ms-dos AM-486-processor based PC in 1994/95, but it was never possible until the last 18 months.
Let's just say I've got a few more things in-store for this game, at the very least; after-all, I've had 22 years to think up more than a few ideas.
Thanks for your help in making this happen, to the whole dev-team, including but not limited to, Synsol, and Meywue and Nadeox1.
