Honestly, sounds like the right call to make, especially when the sites these mods are leaked on don't provide much support. I feel the larger the community gets, the more bad seeds grow. Like, the mod was free, so there was no reason(even to stupidly make a paid mod free(worst kind of people)) to leak it elsewhere other than to just be a bad person. Sad to see you go though. This mod was amazing quality to me. Kinda wish I was in this close-knit group of people that make the amazing mods, cause if this is what goes public, I'd love to see what other hidden gems you have up your sleeves. Just a dream... Anyways, thanks for the great mod! Good luck in your future endeavors!
Yet another mod ruined and tainted by modlanders. I stand by your decision and I hope in the future some justice is served.
I think they meant "fire" as its hot, or really cool. That's how I took it. --- Post updated --- There is a person who has the same Assetto Corsa model in this release on modland that is private. Their version uses a 0.23 build of the Civetta Bolide as a base mixed with a custom jbeam. Their personal mod has the LM body as well. I hope they do not release it publicly; it'll be disrespected by idiots. It's probably better made because of its custom collision jbeam, while mine doesn't have a custom collision jbeam. I have several personal mods that I will never release. Some because they use copywrite models/assets that I am pretty sure would upset their devs and others because of what happened to this one. When I release this, a project that took me 11 months of my free time and hundreds of hours; just for people to re-upload it to other sites without proper credits; disrespecting the work of the game developers and community members that made the assets/worked on the mod. It's disgraceful. What modder would want to upload a mod that they worked really hard on for months to a community, just to have their mod and their work disrespected by that community? This community is shit in other ways, too. But I will not get into that here. I will continue to work on this mod in private. There are already more features in my current version than there is in this public release. I already had a separate skins ZIP file prepared for the next release, but I will never release either now. Not publicly. People are too disrespectful. --- Post updated --- I found a kid that made a video showcasing the car I mentioned that is a private mod. According to the modder, it is the 3rd revision so he doesn't really care, but it looks like my mod is better than the one that was leaked. He talks about my mod and complains that it doesn't crash very well and it isn't very well done. LOL I find that very funny! This is the reality of the community people. BeamNG.drive Ferrari F40!? Well, another mod ruined by terrible people. I am sorry that you've had to go through all of this, @Speed_Freak13. As someone who has been harrassed by multiple people inside this community in the past, I can agree that it is one of the worst communities I have ever been in. I am disappointed by the current state of this community, it's just sad. But don't get discouraged by those bad apples, you can simply ignore them and mind your own business.
I came back because I saw you fixed the mirror issue and thank you for that ! Im pretty sad about how it ends, but I totally understand why though. Thank you for all things you have done yet
danny you annoyed a lot of people in the community and got hate back, thats a completly different situation to what happened here
I don't get it. You've done things right by giving credits where it's due while also making a great mod, all of what's happening on other websites is well beyond your control, and probably is the fault to the very few people who re-upload your mod, which I'm pretty sure cannot get you sued. So it sounds extreme to say "the entire community sucks, no more mod for you guys" when it's probably like 3 people who decided to mess with your mod, compared to the dozen of thousands of silent people who enjoyed the J58 and waited for potential update (me included). Abandoning the mod is your own decision, but when it comes to the Internet, you can never have total control of the things you upload, that's how it'll always be.
If it was ONLY 3 people who do that kind of thing, it wouldn't be as big of a problem as it is. Also, I don't think you're seeing this issue how a mod author would. You're seeing this from a consumer POV, which sees only the result. But there's probably A LOT more behind the scenes that we never see that further explains why he's making this choice. I'll agree on that... and I believe that's why he's keeping the mod private, so he can have control and not have to worry about the bad eggs. Sadly, all it takes is one bad egg to ruin everything, and as much as I like mods like this being released, I understand the motives behind the creators who keep their creations private.
1. This page will stay up along with the download attachment. So, your comment "the entire community sucks, no more mod for you guys" impression of me is a bit inaccurate and incendiary when I never said the ENTIRE community is toxic and that I am removing the download attachment. I said it is toxic as a comment of opinion of the many people who enable and expect free mods no matter the source and share links to sites that steal mods. I simply said I am not going to release a public version anymore. 2. I have control over any unreleased version of the mod. Any one of you community members could take this public version of the mod into your own hands and do anything you want with it from this point provided you keep it free, improve it in some way and give credits to me and everyone else I have listed on the first post with the download attachment. 3. Don't complain about stuff you get for free. The thing about mods is they are up to the discretion of the modder to decide what is best for their mod and their backside, not the community; especially when the community expects stuff to be uploaded free of charge and perfect every single upload. 4. It is a lot to do this on my own spending my free time to get a mod out for people to enjoy. It is a slap in the face to put your best effort forward and then to have people steal it from you and potentially put you in legal compromise. Why would I want to continue uploading my hard work when there are people who I know will continue to disrespect the mod which has community and game devs work inside it? I took a chance releasing this mod to the public. I have been burned; burn me once shame on you burn me twice shame on me. So, I am keeping this mod private for future releases. If I can figure out a way to get the proper credits embedded into the release, maybe I will consider making it public again, but for now it is staying private.
Well that sucks, really liked this hopefully the community keeps the mod from breaking, but I get why you don't wish to support this anymore best of luck in your future endeavours.
I've updated the front page to include asking you before reuploading, but you know people are going to ignore it. They straight up stole it from here and posted it on modland without credits for god's sake.
