Looks very impressive. I understand you have already said that the race version, the S7R, will be included in the mod. I'd like to know how deep that would go. Are you looking to include a specific car or all the different variations of the S7R? As an example, there were radical changes to the rear wing and underbody aero throughout the years. The ORECA-built Saleens from 2006 onwards had a lot of modernization on the chassis and Aero side compared to the "factory-built" cars of the earlier years. As another example, the 2001 S7R run by Konrad Motorsport in the ALMS still used a full manual gearbox and had a slightly different interior compared to its later SRO/FIA counterparts. I'll post some examples of how radically the rear wing changed over the years. These might be a bit poor quality so bear with me. The image order is from oldest to newest. (Konrad ALMS 2001 - Graham Nash FIA GT 2005 - Balfe Racing 2006 [Not a ORECA Chassis] - K plus K Motorsport 2009 [ORECA Chassis] - Don't remember team name, 2010) These are of course just the differences in the rear wing, there are many other big changes that happened to the cars over the years. Are you looking to reflect those changes (Undoubtedly a massive modeling effort) or focus on one specification? Maybe an amalgam of different specifications?
I plan on adding various of the racing configs There are a couple wings made so far, most of race wings use the same profile at differing angles. There only really are 2 cars which use different profiles, one seeming to be a bit swayed, the other having a completely different profile The evo wing mount is unfinished but will be finished once it's time for them. The undertray will be the same besides the diffuser for all of them, since I have no references saying that anything else is changed. Though I'll probably make a front undertray without the venting holes behind the radiator.
I. Am. So. Psyched. For. This. Mod! May inspiration find you well! I know Neil will enjoy lobbing it off the Car Jump Arena. And it will blow the new mustang mod out of the water he just reviewed.
Oh yeah, it‘ll bring a lot to the game! I unrelated to this, I also want to announce that i‘m coming closer to putting together a proper progress update here. I want to do it once I reached a certain state of the Jbeam and it‘s getting there. For now, here‘s this screenshot I made yesterday! I post progress updates a lot more regularly and casually on the BeamNG Discord than here on the forums.
This looks amazing!! I can't imagine how much time and effort goes into creating things like this. I really like your model of a free and paid version, too. Thank you for sharing your work with us!
Thank you! I‘m a good 900 hours deep into this project right now. It‘ll still take a bit but it‘s going along
Holy guacamole. Looking forward to the end result! Love the Saleen S7. I have fond memories of driving it back in the Midnight Club / TDU days.
UPDATE TIME! I've been keeping this thread waiting for a long time. I upload very frequent updates on the official BeamNG Discord server! Sadly these images won't be on the main page due to a recent change by the website admins, that limits attachments to 10. Anyway. I have been working a lot on the jbeam in the past months and constructed a solid basis, implementing various new features. The doors have been completed today. Videos can be found on discord as well. I may make a youtube video and link it once the custom door open sounds have been implemented. Here's a rough overview of the jbeam. Everything is scratch jbeamed and sits at a weight of 1120kg with fuel currently. The intake tubing is jbeamed and floppy. The body can also split into multiple pieces when hit hard enough. Other body panels will be able to do the same. A lot of pieces can separate due to this. The side of the main body breaks apart nicely. The transaxle and air filter also are their own parts. The radiators can be split into 2 pieces and damaging the piping around the car will cause them to leak. Static images can't really convey how nicely it crashes, but here are some examples. Once this mod is nearly done, I am going to compile a bunch of side by side (video and image) comparisons of the real car and the Sapphire in game! I will resume work on the mod in about 1-2 months, since I will be moving out into my first own flat soon! There's lot's to do, so I don't have the time to focus on this project for that time. I also have completed my collection of every 1/18 scale Saleen model there is today (excluding duplicates) See y'all until the next thread update! (There really is a lot more in depth stuff on the discord server)
How detailed this car is so far... and how many parts are in this mod... PLEASE don't rush this guy, because whatever the finished product of this mod is going to be... It's gonna be GLORIOUS.
I wish I could get a few photos of my uncles old silver one. I'm going to relive childhood memories with this mod.
My one friends mom traded in a Mk4 Supra for a minivan. --- Post updated --- A great supercar mod is awesome. But a great supercar mod that BREAKS like this, Is Infinitely better! Great job! It's looking pretty epic!
