I kind of want it to be based on a Chevy. Maybe not the frame, but I would like to see some cosmetics and maybe some engines from it.

We know it'll be a strong car but not at Imperial levels. I'm sure this was answered already and I probably knew the answer one upon a time, but do we know if the Bluebuck will be a proper X frame or just a strong normal frame?

Part of me actually hopes that the Bluebuck does have a short production run just so we have something from Gavril that wasn't a big success. Barstow engines would be nice. As always I am hoping for some racing variants, but the team doesn't really seem that interested in vintage racing variants.

Edit: I can delete this post again...

If this were the case, I could see the Bluebuck using a Burnside frame, because even on the wiki, it says that Burnside like Cadillac to Gavril's Chevy. I could see it utilizing the fullsize frame from it, but adding some of the Barstow's engine options.

The burnside is too old. Plus it bends weird

This would most likely utilize the Barstow engines and have its own frame.

The Bluebuck will be a past sales success, as it is based on the bestselling volume market fullsizers of the mid-60s, especially the Chevrolet Impala.

Aye, but if it's going to be a strong car it won't be an X-frame car.

Edit: not directed at you per se, more at the fella you're replying to.

But the Chrysler Imperial was an X-frame car and it's "The indestructible car" banned from all demo derbys.

I think he means this when he's talking about X-Frame

The Imperial frame was a hybrid of both.

    It's still considered an X-frame.

I've always called the Imperial frame a frame inside a frame.

CTJacob said it best. To me it looks a frame that has an X-frame inside of it... I saw a guy put a 1975 Chrysler Shock bumper sub frame and weld it in between the frame rails of his Outlaw Derby pickup. Would you then say "Well technically, that pickup frame has been turned into a sub frame."? I don't think so.

I revoke my prior statement. They're technically a X strengthened ladder frame. I apologize.

Word, still an X-frame by definition, then? Okay... I was thinking more of a bare bones X-frame when ya'll were talking about X-frames I guess. No need to apologize. Thanks for doing your homework.

    And thanks for the clarification...

Or is it considered a ladder frame by definition? Because that would coincide with my personal definition from before .

A cool visual style for this car would be massive fins and rear fender skirts. Don't know why, but I love cars with rear fender skirts.

If fins were going to happen, we would have seen them in the initial render.

Fender skirts are still possible and somewhat plausible though.

There has been minor redesigns of the renders before, I think emphasizing the tail almost-fins a little is not out of the question, though not likely.

Fender skirts are s3xy! If I could have left them on my derby cars, I would have. The moonhawk needs some! Bluebuck too lol

    Nothing wrong with that. ;)

I'm hoping for tailfins too - just maybe on something a little different:
    upload_2018-3-1_20-21-15.png

A full-size '55-'59 wagon ... maybe named after a Californian city that starts with "B"? You know the one...

It might even underpin a full-size sedan or an equivalent to the Ranchero

Back on topic again, what do we think the odds are on the Bluebuck frame eventually spawning an official wagon or El-camino style truck?
