1963 Gavril Bluebuck

    The Bluebuck is, short of Forza games with the Thunderbolt, the closest I can get to the '63 Fairlane we used to own.

    I just noticed some things in need of correction!
    1) Of all BeamNG cars having a footbrake for parking (Bluebuck, Grand Marshal, LeGran, Moonhawk, Wendover, D-Series, H-Series, Roamer), only the Bluebuck has the wrong sound for it. In the other cars, when depressing the (dis)engagement pedal, the footbrake has a squeaky sound to it while in the Bluebuck it sounds like it's clicking, as if it were a T-Handle parking brake (like the one featured in the Barstow, the Miramar and the Burnside Special).
    2) The Bluebuck Drag's interior, compared to those of the other BeamNG drag cars, is fully dressed up while it should be fully stripped of any unnecessary weight like passenger seats and door cards!

    Also, on a different note, I'd love the Shale Green colour to be included in the palette of the Bluebuck (and that of the Special). It's a deep green metallic colour available for the Barstow and the Moonhawk and it makes these cars look really good, so I think it would also be good for the Bluebuck, the Special and the more modern Gavrils as well!

    I used to drive a 1961 Buick with a step on parking brake. It very much had the same clicking/ratching sound as the T-handle brake.

    I agree on the color, though!

    Hmmm... Your personal experience is real after all (so there's no point in me trying to prove you wrong when you clearly know better :)) but, to my mind, it would seem as the logical thing for the Bluebuck to have the squeaky sound because, apart from all the other footbrake-equipped BeamNG cars having this sound, there's also the linkage of the footbrake itself making this sound. Dunno. :confused:

    Well to add to the table my '76 Holden has a foot operated parking brake and it is very much of the "click, click, click" type much akin to more modern hand operated parking brakes. It just depends on the car I suppose

    One thing I haven't seen mentioned is that the dashboard is basically a straight-up copy of the real life Chevrolet one.

    There's this weird spot / texture in the body's paint right beneath the rear C-pillar on both the 2 door post and hardtop body-styles, I found out about this a while ago but forgot & thought it would've been found by now but I guess not. (it's more noticeable with some certain colors than it is with others).

    Just realized whats causing this spot, as It lines up nearly exactly with the placement of the rear door handles on the sedan body styles, simple fix?

    Also another thing to mention while I'm at it is, the velocity stacks on the 'Quad Carburetors' clip through the opening on the 'Cut Hood'.

    I understand this thread is old, but there is a bug with the Bluebuck where the headlight illumination is set inside the engine bay.

    Any one else think the body is unnaturally wide? It looks as if it extends too far beyond the upper body line due to the unusual-for-the-time curvy side styling (for something that isnt obviously an Exner product)

    Notice the ridge, signifying the end of the horizontal surface and the beginning of the vertical surface, look at the difference between the upper body ridge and wheel opening

    Interestingly the middle of the body seems relatively normal

    Also whats up with bumper sitting way out from the body, did the 5mph impact mandate come about ten years earlier, then disappear in time for the Barstow to hit the market?

    Yeah, I wish the Bluebuck's front end looked more like the '63 Buick's, with slimmer bumpers and a less convoluted* grille.
    *It's not convoluted, exactly, it just doesn't look great.

    Why the actual grille part is only a teensy little square is a mystery to every one but the designer, why it doesn't extend to aleast the headlights or beyond (like most if not all American cars of the era) is any ones guess really

    I think the Bluebuck's front suspension could use some adjustment. Especially on the lower trim models without heavy duty suspension, the front suspension hits the lower limit of travel very frequently in everyday normal driving scenarios like lane changes or low speed turns. It feel like the front end sits too high up naturally. This isn't a problem on the Burnside, so I think it's more of a tuning issue.

    small things that have bothered me with the nascar config since day 1.

    1. The racing slicks. Correct me if im wrong but im like 90% sure nascar didnt run slicks in the 60s.
    2. personal opinion but the first thing i thought when i loaded the nascar config for the first time was i dislike the pain job colors, turning up the metallic setting helps but i just dont like how the colors look on the blue buck.

    i tried making a paint scheme color that looked good but i found its actually very hard this is the best i cpu;d get. I now realize i dont think its the paint colors i hate I think its just cause to me anyway the car is just ugly in general so nothing looks good to me lol. Which is why i havent made any configs with it. Its really hard to make it look good cause it doesnt. it's like trying to make a fiat multipa look good lol

    I think the Bluebuck is one of the prettier cars in game; the stock car config always has been a favorite of mine. That blue and ivory combination looks really great on it too

    I mean, it's cool, but any real-life equivalents are much better-looking, unlike the Scintilla. The Bluebuck's grille is weird, the sides are weirdly bulging, and just stuff like that. It's still one of my favorite cars, though.
    They didn't use 5-slot steel wheels in the early sixties, either.
