I may be, don't doubt that. But the thing is, I haven't spent much time browsing 'em. At this point in development life I'm not playing it that much anyways. And I don't know much of the modders here or their mods, so mod-searching is something I put on hold when this game matures. I didn't mean to assult anyone (I for sure can't make a quality mod). I know there are some good looking mods out there, but it looks like some have bad deformation. Which value would have to be changed? I use a G27 wheel as my controller and thus prefer 1:1 representation.
There is a value in the steering part of the jbeam (under suspension_f) that states how many the degrees the steering wheel should turn (from the centre to left or right, not lock to lock). For instance, a value of 540 equates to 1 and a half turns to the left or right, and 3 turns lock to lock. This isn't really a good practice. You should use the steering wheel lock of the stock Prelude (I imagine somewhere around 540 degrees). For a start, when you're driving on a track, you don't have to get anywhere near full lock (especially in an FF), aside from countersteer. The steering wheel only spins like crazy if you're giving too much input, or when driving a 90's American behemoth like a D15 or Grand Marshal. I also use a controller, and rarely exceed 270 degrees of steering when driving a Covet quickly. any more and you get atomic understeer. The purpose of BeamNG is to simulate vehicles realistically, and half a turn lock to lock on a MK1 Prelude isn't realistic. Also, if BeamNG's steering input is directly mapped when used with a wheel, then G27 users will be at full lock after 45 degrees, which just is not right. That aside, the model is looking absolutely perfect. I'm sure this will be on par with the official vehicles, if not better ^_^ That's it, under the hydros section. Changing that value adjusts the wheel lock.
Oh, well, here's a few quick goodies: Mythbuster's '49 Caddy Goosah's '69 Corolla Nadeox1's '99 Crown Vic B25Mitch's... well, B25 Michell
Thanks for the steering wheel suggestions and other compliments, but I'm sticking with it as it is. Since I don't have a steering wheel, I only care about how it plays with the xbox controller. And with the "realistic" turns plays like crap, is very distracting. Anyone can change it later to it's liking, anyway, is not a big deal.
Meanwhile, I'm working on small details now. Making the final adjustments to the specular and normal maps. Same goes for the interior, each part is being polished. New driver cam adjusted. And some normal detailing for the chassis, still missing the diffuse details.
BeamNG.drive\art\sound\cheetah_engine.ogg But that's how you overwrite them DSC-Scarab-Reborn This has a custom sound mod without replacing I found this on the internet https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6QIAtUtHeq8
What I've meant to say is that I don't know how to get a sound from a real car and get it in game. I'm not interested in doing that, either, is not my field of work.
Creating sounds for beamng isn't too difficult. Simply put, you need to record a sample from a car's engine with steady RPM (preferably with a good microphone), convert it to .ogg and throw it in the art/sounds folder. the game loops it continuosly and changes its pitch according to engine RPM. If you are interested in getting a custom sound, I could provide one that i recorded from a 4 banger engine with a stereo microphone.
Hmm so if it's that simple then I might give it a try. I have my own Prelude to record from, even though it doesn't have a stock muffler it should work. I'll get to it once I'm done with the rest of the work. Will need to get a 1.8 VTEC sound too.
Looks absolutely fantastic. Really eager to try this out. I love how you've done the interior- by the looks of it it's my favorite in BeamNG as of now. Just out of curiosity, are you going to make custom steelies for this car or use the Pigeon/Covet steelies? Looks great, man.
Thanks, this car comes with its own set of steelies from factory, It'll have those and a couple more factory options in alloy too wich I still need to model.
Excellent work CB, every progress is very impressive, that car is looking fantastic. About steering wheel, since ppl who know posted the solution and is so simple, i belive there is no problem at all if u stick to set the steering to your liking, is your creation afterall! Cant wait to test this machine, and this is one of those that u dont want to crash! even on BeamNG.
Honestly wouldn't invest too much time into engine sounds, everyone wants that yea we get it.. But the devs are going to eventually rework the sound engine for the game. So don't put too many resources towards sounds.
Thanks, keeping with the line of updates, SoHigh00 donated his VTEC engine model so I'm working on the additional performance parts to fit my model: I'm done with the exhaust, next I'll be adding a Skunk2 pro series intake and air filter. Will need to modify the old engine components to fit the new ones, and digital ignition too.
No problem dude, but the smoothing groups or something else seem to be wrong with the engine...it doesn't look like it should
