This is one of my favorite drift cars in Forza 4... it is awesome so far!

Re: 1990 Lotus Carlton Twin Turbo (Solid Alpha Release)

Hey! I've been working almost the whole time, but these last few problems have really been taking up all my time.

I've started to texture the car. So far, I can get a bade onto the front and a transparent/opaque mesh over the grills in the front bumper (where black preveously)
But, it messes with the paint and stuff, so for now, I've just taken them out until they will look good (soon in beta.)

Couple more problems I have with the thing:
The front brakes are still impossible, except with the front suspension's modified differential.
The needles are still acting up
I don't think every last mesh is appearing without error. Mainly the rear suspension since the flexbody groups are ported from the hatch (therefore named hatch_... instead of fullsize_... causing mesh errors)
I also was not able to separate the wing as an optional part without error. Mostly the deform groups were messed up, and I didn't know how to fix it. It did, however come off in the Ctrl+W menu, and also break off in crashes to deform and roll around on the ground.

    About the update:

But! The handling is getting solid.
There are off-road parts now, which work well in bumpy and hilly terrain at medium speeds.
There is an awd modification available, which raises the suspension, and installs front and rear high-ratio differentials with higher "locking" sensitivity for better grip in the mud.
Generally, it's just a better version of the old mod. Now is the time if you want to start adding or modifying parts. I don't think much will change after this, other than fixes and appearance improvements.

    Let's try something new...

    Download Update 1-6-14

    Thanks for downloading!

    P.S.
I've bought myself a 3d printer, so that may occupy me for the next two weeks or so.
I apologize in advance if I forget about my mods!

OK I've loved this car ever since i first saw the mod, but there are two problems, 1 on the off road version, the front suspension is collapsed, 2 the shocks/springs ( I think ) are always staying in the one spot, no matter what angle the car is facing, they do move with the car though.

see attached pic for both problems.

I'm pretty sure I've fixed both of these things.
If you're using the latest release, I had just fixed those two things.
But I think there was another version with these problems which I didn't mean to release. I ran out of time to properly update the post... or even test the zipped files.

    1. The suspension coilovers are most likely not there. Fix this by reselecting the front coilovers in the Ctrl+W menu. It should hold itself up then.

    2. I've fixed the mesh groups; the problem was that they were trying to sync to nonexistent deform groups, so they just float around instead of crashing the game.

If you are sure you're using the 1-6-14 release, I'd be surprised to see this. Try re installing and see if that fixes these problems. (be sure to delete all files in the 'carlton' vehicles folder)

I'm trying to fix that. I know it's in the jbeam, because I've redone the wheel mesh to fix it, but it didn't.

The front suspension has gone to hell >.>
    No brakes
    Mesh errors
    Floppy steering
    Wheels break off

But I'm working on it :s

    Almost to Beta! Needs fixes!

    Hey everyone,

Sorry I've been neglecting the mod for about two weeks now.
    I bought a 3d printer >.>

Anyways, I need some help to get to beta.

There is still one huge problem:
The front brakes are still not working.
I can't, for the life of me, figure out what's wrong.
I've even talked with gabester about it with no luck.

I went ahead and released a new version, though. I need some solutions if this car is going to see release (or even beta, for that matter)

In it, I've tuned the suspension, engine, crashing, materials, etc, but I'm still having the brakes issue.

I've also added a functional lighting system.

    Check main post for download.

Off topic but what printer did you get?

I'm thinking about building a reprap prusa some time.

    A reprap prusa :3

    It's the laser-cut i3 kit from makerfarm.com

So far, it's good, other than the little issue with one stepper driver (it was defective from the start)

Excellent, excellent, and excellent customer support, too.
All-week daytime support from the service rep.
He responds to my emails in less than 10 minutes on Sundays.

    For $600 it's not a bad deal.

More off topic but I have literally been studying about 3d printers and the past couple days. I'd like a makerbot but the wanhao duplicator 4 on amazon for like 1400 looks just as good or even better

That is cool. What program are you using? Can i use inventor to make cars and stuff because i know some stuff about inventor but nothing about blender? And if i can use inventor would have to make the wheels and exles rotate and stuff that moves have to move? Any help is welcome.☺

As long as you can get a .dae file, you should be good. And seperation into different objects is crucial for moving parts like wheels.

Looking into it, inventor seems like a fine software to build a car for bemang

    Wheel Problem

First off, the turning circle of the car isn't amazing. Secondly, I find the front wheels to randomly pop off while I'm turning, i don't know if its just the maps I'm on, but other than that, magnificent mod!

For some reason, the latest file has nothing in it.

    (imported from here)

Downloaded 9/27/2014 from here. Carlton 1-22-14 Lights Fix is the file name.
