No, it is not. Copyright exists, and due to the repo being "official" and somehow the forums aren't, well, quite, you can't upload it there.
It kinda is. It used to be allowed and there was for example an 50s Cadillac on there, but then that was forbidden
Theres a reason why vertex and other thing allowed in the repo, because the model and everything were made by the modder who made it, so no copyright will strike it because tecjnically they own the model. You can also see the codename oldsfullsize mod only having one vehicle and its basically straight up delta 88 but rebadged, tho it has a pack in an external link down in the description to avoid brand copyright. So basically you can have 1:1 replica of a car and post it in the repo IF the model were owned by you (or you got permission from the model creator to post it in the repo) and rebranded to be lore friendly like the vertex.
I don't really get your point, sorry Automation and BeamNG have a official collaboration, if you mean that cars based on it are on the repo and thus might break copyright rules But what do you mean with the Mistral?
You can definitely have real cars in the repo they just can't have the real names or badges. Example, the prasu is clearly a supra also the 300bx I think it's called is a 300zx. Both identical to the real thing but without badges and a name change
Which sounds like a non-issue. OP most likely has the permission to use this model (right? And even if not, I doubt carface80 would mind, the dude gives away his stuff left and right), and rebranding shouldn't take a lot either. About the oldsfullsize, the link alone could be a basis to fill a lawsuit. It doesn't really matter how you obtain it, the addon is still stored on BeamNG servers. If we're talking about copyrighting logos and, more importantly, names, then quite a lot of cars should be removed. I mean, just from the first page today: Cadillac Sixty Special, DMC DeLorean. Hirochi Mistral. FPS Trapez These two are the most blatant rebadges that come to my mind, but I wouldn't be surprised if there was more. So, tl;dr: the copyright argument is there pretty much only because otherwise people would flood the repo with converts from other games and sharing other gray-area assets. I doubt Chevrolet would actually sue BeamNG over some old car uploaded by a user (and while I'm not an expert and I don't speak legalese, the forums ToS puts liability for user-generated content on users). Tl;dr2: we're arguing about something that the author should decide on, lol.
They would sue If it's popular enough it might """""""tarnish""""""" Chevrolets reputation since it can be crashed, Forums are a gray area since they are hosted on beamng.com but the content is user created and mostly unregulated , so the fault lies on users. That's why there is a "taken down due to copywright complain" tag. But since the repo is directly in beamng (accessible in game) it counts as content of beamng, even if user made, therefore the devs would be liable for that. And even if blatant rebadges, they are not badged the original car brand so it's not a problem just like those shitty mobile games with random car names.
Dude. He’s not 11. He’s from the netherlands. --- Post updated --- Do I ever feel like the bad guy writing this kind of trying-not-to-be-mean-but-still-slightly-being-unintentionally message? Yes. But I do respect the argument, that I must say.
suspension seems really lose, if you do donuts and let off and on the gas the wheels actually shift side to side from the axle jumping around!
If you want, I have a junk LT1 from a 96 impala SS I can photoscan. This mod is absolutely beautiful but the engine model bothers me.
Hot diggity dog! This rework is magnificent! I just stumbled upon this thread, glad to see that this mod is getting another chance at life! When I get home I will delete the old version and download the new! I love the 4th gen Caprice/Impala, right after the 3rd gen Camaro!
