Yea, this mod was on the repository, before anything with trademarks were removed. Not sure why, as these are community made mods, so I am not sure how BeamNG could get in trouble for it.
It's because BeamNG is hosting the content and it can be seen by an aggressive lawyer as copyright/trademark infringement. The easiest comparison I can think of right now is Porsche not being a lot of racing video games. Porsche didn't give licenses to use their cars in the games, so if one of the games had included a Porsche they would have been sued. It doesn't matter who made the model, because it's a model of copyrighted/trademarked content.
That is different though, that is content the developer put into the game, intend on making money using the brand. BeamNG is hosting a mod service that allows you to download mods, which is no different than Steam Workshop, yet I haven't seen copyright issues with that.
I'm not an expert on the related laws, or the legal framework that BeamNG deals with, but I think it's because the repository is hosted by BeamNG and is a part of the game rather than being hosted by a different party such as Steam. I'm sure one of the staff members can explain this better than I can.
Trademarks and copyright. Anything that goes on the repo goes through us first. This is just a measure to avoid any possible ugly trademark/copyright issues. Lawyers has spoken on that But let's not go offtopic in this thread.
will there be more variations to this? what about the grand marquis the lincoln town car and of corse the MARAUDER!!!!
I have to say I think you did a real great job, even for how little you knew then! I mean I can't do anything close to this good!
Stop calling bumps, it's much more annoying that the bump itself. And as far it's on-topic/relevant, there's no problem. (That applies forum-wide)
https://www.beamng.com/threads/1999-ford-crown-victoria.6557/page-26#post-354227 The mod works without issues, it's not broken or outdated, it's just really old.
I know but I would like to be able to press a key to turn the lightbar on and off as well as have the horn.
