I guess the stories I've heard of $2000 every 6 months was just to scare me away from buying a car then...

Don't know why some of you pay so much for insurance, 3rd party insurance where I live is much cheaper. The following figures came out of an online calculator, take a look.
3rd party insurance for a year
    1999 Honda Accord 3.0- $109
    2010 Subaru Legacy 2.0- $150
    2002 Ford Focus 1.6- $94
    2013 MB E-Class 1.8- $273
    1996 Ford Mondeo 1.8- $70
    1976 Lada 21011 1.3- $132
    1998 Cadillac Seville STS 4.6- $563
    1992 VW Golf 1.9- $100
    2007 Honda Legend 3.5- $238

Don't worry, I had the same stories told to be all the time. "Never buy a sports car before you're 25 or else you will pay crazy amounts of money on insurance!" Up until I got my drivers licence I think I heard that at least once a week from when I turned 14. So naturally I did what all good teenagers do and listened very well by buying a Ford Mustang as my first car (I listen so well don't I?) For whatever reason that thing was 480 every six months... that's quite a lot for around here coming in at 80 bucks a month. Finally, that car blew its transmission and I needed a new car. Started plugging in random cars into progressive for insurance quotes and found that a C4 Corvette came in at 210 every 6 months. I went back and plugged in my real information (licence number, where I live, miles on the car in question... real specific stuff like that) and the price dropped to 184 every six months... this was when I was 23 as well... I was ecstatic as I thought I would never be able to afford something like this.

I now drive that car every day as my daily driver.

Im a little behind on this threat LOL but I can Directly Relate. I am almost 16 years old and I already have a 2005 Honda Accord Coupe v6 as my first car. Im not exactly sure about the price but with GEICO my insurance will be way over $300

What kind of insurance is it? If it isn't a liability coverage and it isn't compulsory, there's no point in having it since one yearly payment roughly equals the price of your car.
