Hello, I enjoyed the progress of the procyon centuari so far, and I'm wondering if you can use or combine interior elements of newer generation (2021-) Lexus LX and the toyota land cruiser (as a plan for developing the interior later on).
So, I’ve been working on some new front bumpers for the Centauri for the various trim levels it’ll eventually get. Here’s the first of them, a complete redesign of the current sport front bumper; Old… …new. Along with the other bumpers, here’s the design sketch I made before making this one. …and the process… I started off by deleting the centre section of the old bumper, as literally nothing was left the same between the two. …then started off with some basic framework, following the earlier design like a blueprint like I usually do. …then some faces… …and a midway comparison between this and the old bumper. Onto the grilles, starting with the centre. After the top bar was framed out, I decided that they’d look stupidly bland if I left them like the design, so I added some holes/indents into them, Lexus LX600 style. …then the side grilles… …then, for some reason this wasn’t documented, but the top grille was edited too. Here’s how the whole thing looks on the car now, except the top grille and vent mesh. Next up, getting it in game, which was a simple process as it was literally just replacing the old flexbodies with the new ones. …and some proportional edits and design tweaks… which means it’s done! What do you guys think of it? I know I took way way way too many screenshots of a bumper being made but I just thought I’d give you guys some detail on how this sorta thing is done… in my way I guess. Thanks for reading this far and enjoy the rest of your day! Next update on post #359
What do I think of it... well... I think you're really dedicated and I support your effort on something I'll probably never notice with my graphics settings
I’ve done a fair few things on the car in the past, to be fair, including: - Adding ESC - FFB tuning - A bucket load of suggestions and feedback - etc
I want to help model the interior so damn bad, The LX is one of my favorite cars and this project is sick
Thanks for the offer, but this is the first full interior I’ll be modelling myself, and I’d like to get used to modelling something like it and learn the best ways to do it, so no, sorry.
hey, just letting you know I finally responded to your dm, if you still are willing to provide images for me to work with happy monday!
this looks really cool. i've been waiting for a good modern full size SUV on this game for a while and this one looks very promising. also i have a question, will there be a low-spec variant, possibly branded as a regular Hirochi, that's similar to those Land Cruisers that the UN and other organizations buy? that would be really cool. (also yes i know the one in the picture is an older one but i'm sure they'll start buying the 300 series at some point anyways)
Not a huge amount of progress since Saturday because of computer issues, but I’ve been working on the Mid-Luxury bumper and I’ve changed the bonnet line… …with some completely new JBeam to fit it. (the new shape, mainly for engine and engbaycrap space so it isn’t a right pain in the ass for me later on) Also, I’ve been working on crash safety stuff a lot, which was part of the reason for the bonnet gap change. The recent ANCAP video kinda made me wanna work on it even more. Here’s some land cruiser because I didn’t bother to document it for some reason. If you guys have anything else to do with crash safety of this or the LX600, please let me know, but otherwise have a great rest of your week. Thanks for checking in on the thread!
So I think you should also test out the car with a small-overlap front impact crash test, like the ones from IIHS at 62 kmh/40 mph. This will test the car's a-pillar strength as well as it's crumple zone. I could not find one for the LX600 but here is one for the Ford Explore https://www.iihs.org/ratings/vehicle/ford/explorer-4-door-suv/2022
