I guess you are going to make this game easy to mod and will there be a colour selector in the future. this basically will give the enjoyment of soft body physics in a small package, can't wait to try this now all you need now is a beta testing team. I will be willing to be a beta now what should we name tester now what should be the names of the cars.
Due to limitations, wheels now are "faked" wheels. No big deal in a 2d game really. Things are looking much better now --Updated-- Here's some news : I have a level design worked out and may be releasing a 'tech demo' later today/this week EDIT : Don't overhype though. It'll be limited to one level, one gamemode, no modding. Like I said, just tech.
Here's the not to impressive public test demo. It's a little buggy, but contains a single somewhat challenging level that can keep you occupied for at least a little bit. Enjoy readme: Code: 2DSpringPhysics Readme A game created by Dummiesman, additional credits inside CONTROLS ------- Up arrow - Forward Down arrow - Backward P - Toggle pause R - restart ESCAPE - Go to menu (no confirmation!!) This is the first released public demo Things are bound to change Enjoy! FAQ Can I mod this? The demo is locked against modding Can you compile for other platforms? I will try to port this to Mac/Linux/Android within the coming weeks I FELL THROUGH THE BRIDGE!! Like I said, has some bugs
Wasn't planning on it, but since I had to make platform specific changes anyways, here's demo update 1 -Water and mud now appear in front of the player -Darkness effect in rocky area fixed -Slightly modified the first part of the level -Sound now stops on pause -'PAUSE' text now shows up when paused -Music now loops -Banner on desktop builds added -Fixed some UI scaling issues Download (WINDOWS) : http://dummiesman.com/downloads/sphys/2DSpringPhysics-Win-Demo1UP1.7z (needs 7 zip or something that can extract 7z files) Download (LINUX) : http://dummiesman.com/downloads/sphys/2DSpringPhysics-Lnx-Demo1UP1.7z (many distros come with built in 7-zip support, or an option for it) Download (MAC) : http://dummiesman.com/downloads/sphys/2DSpringPhysics-Mac-Demo1UP1.zip Download (ANDROID) : http://dummiesman.com/downloads/sphys/2DSpringPhysics-And-Demo1UP1.zip The Android version readme explains how it plays on Android. This is not playable on low FPS. This is an issue with the game that I have fixed, but have not uploaded the fix for yet
Awesome to hear it runs well . Also got some nice feedback, which I honestly wasn't actually expecting. I just spent a bit creating a terrain tool that will assist greatly in level development:
it looks like a more basic version of incredibots flash game except you can't built --- Post updated --- i can also test on windows phone 535 (1gig Ram) i don't know the CPU or GPU it has
Neither powerful or so crap that it wouldn't run the game. Sadly no windows phone build as dummiesman doesn't have means to do one, I've mentioned I could do it for him but that's not been taken up
For some reason it won't let me click install on my HTC one m8, it has Android 5.0.2, it isn't greyed/ grayed out or anything, it just doesn't do anything when I click on install, no animation or anything. It will only let me press cancel. I have never had this problem before. (I did extract the zip.)
It should run smoothly on even low end systems, it doesn't need much. I have an internal level editor that I may be able to tweak to work ingame.
yea would be nice to have a slider for music level i almost shit my self when the game came on haha and yea idk if possible but a zoom in/zoom out wil be nice for bigger monitors but keep it up its fun to play
Zoom has been the #1 complaint from the demo, a little while after playing it myself , I realized it was a bit too zoomed in for my liking as well. Since the demo release, I've adjusted zoom so you can at least see where you're going. I also didn't realize the loudness of the audio, sorry . Should have an option for that eventually
yea my pc is normaly on 100 and my speakers are on 100 and my tv is on 14/20 so you can think about how damn loud that was hahaha
