overheating causes shutdown. What I was calling bullshit is overheating just once permanently breaking peoples computers or setting them on fire as people claim.

Speaking of stuff, have any of you think that a LAPTOP can't run BeamNG drive at decent settings?

It depends on the laptop, how old it is, and what graphics and cpu are in it. a surface pro 3 could run the techdemo in normal settings pretty well.

I ran the 0.5.5 version off a Sony Vaio (not much of the stats are known). From the stickers, it have Intel Certino Duo core (maybe), Nvida audio driver and operated with windows 7 Home Premium. Can run most modded maps at 30fps in normal garphics and collision on. With official maps, it has about 12fps. Quite good. However, i have to sit in an air condited room with a fan blowing straight at the air vent plus putting my old watch near the vent as a heat sink (the watch will sustain the heat) to keep it from over heating and shut down. I usually avoid using it. I use it when the power went off or when i'm on trips

I've never tried that before with any laptop, but good job, I'd probably do that if I had an older laptop, which I do but itcan't even run the techdemo its so old.

Mines definitely not recently since it had Win XP and it doesn't have a graphics processor.

I had a back up one. It's a Nec Versa. Operated with Windows XP and also have no graphics processor. I don't know what's the core as at some point of time, i got bored and tear all the stickers off (idk why).

I acutally like Dell laptops. They seems to be more durable than others and overheat less.

Wow... I think has the most bullshit in it of any thread out there. As @SixSixSevenSeven said before, computer don't just catch fire or overheat from heavy use. These will only happen extremely strenuous situations, such as the case being filled with some sort of highly combustible material (saw dust, lint, etc) or something that blocks all airflow (cardboard boxes). Even then, you'll be hard pressed to get it to self-combust. It'll thermal throttle before it gets hot enough for anything feasible to self-combust.

I don't know what you're used to, but 12fps is godawful.

I've done that with one of them, the decided to put Kerbal Space Program on there, didn't run very well before it crashed saying there was a Hard disk error. Then I just never used it again/it was my experimenting computer for a while before I got this one.

I don't mean that 12fps is good. I only think it's surprising (to me) as official maps have bunch of trees (not utah) and they are fps killers. I'm used to about 230fps up for the computer. For the laptop, that's about 60fps or lower
