New Five-Oh engine and 4R75W Transmission for the Grand Marshal. They are matched and work best together.

    That was fast work :)

I had a bit of free time and decided to do my own Engine/Tranny combo for the Police Grand Marshall, along with stickier tires & a few other tweaks.. I'm quite pleased with the result.. The engine is slightly more powerful than the 4.5, and the transmission is a closer ratio and shifts more aggressively like the Police version..

I gave yours a go and I liked the engine, but the transmission didn't feel quite aggressive enough. I guess it really comes down to personal taste..

Luckily this game is fairly easily moddable.. atleast as far as engines are concerned.. I still can't figure out ride height/spring stiffness, and my efforts to make a stronger steering haven't seem to made any noticeable difference.

EDIT: Removed file, posted new version Below

Yea, for some reason the torque values in this game a bit weird, true 5.0 values were lesser then the 4.5l included, and the tranny was as close to a real 4R75W, whilst matching better with the engine. But i will definitely give yours a try :D

Yeah I don't think the torque values in this game are based on reality.. You kinda have to guess and balance according to whats already in the game..

I'm working on an improved version of my transmission & a few tweaks to my engine.. When I setup the Transmission I set it up to keep RPMs high in the powerband for acceleration, but after some extensive testing on the flat map I realize this comes at an expense of lower rpm cruising.. Right now I'm trying to find the fine balance for the shift points & gear ratios.

It isn't easy tweaking a transmission to work under all conditions.. Sometimes it will jump between gears if it isn't right. Or it will stay in 4th at a higher RPM when you hit the gas hard instead of shifting down to 3rd for better acceleration, yet at a slightly lower rpm it down shifts like intended.

    Its a very fine balance.

After a TON of obsessive testing over every possible condition I am satisfied with the transmission. I modded my engine a bit too since I felt the power dropped off a little too quick. The transmission is all round very well balanced. It shifts up to cruise when you take it easy, and drops a gear when you hit it. It really keeps the car at the best possible gear, atleast with my engine.

Although it should work great with most similar engines, maybe with a few mods.. It seemed to work well with your engine as well Kalypso.

Edit: You can now get my full package including other mods in my post

Fantastic, i like this community. Always pulling together to get things made. But i agree with you, playing with transmission gear ratios and such it extremely tedious. Since i dont have a way to regulate throttle its hard to judge how any of my stuff works at any other way rather then wide open throttle (current keyboard user with the Logitech G27 in my future) Also pleased with it working with my engine. I appreciate your time invested, considering i know how it is. I hope this continues so our options for the powertrain aren't limited :D

Yeah, Keyboard isn't that great for this game. A G27 would be a big improvement. I have a G25, and it works well for this game.. Although it is IMO a bit overkill. Its really tedious setting it up, and taking it down everytime I feel like playing. I use it more for hardcore racing games, or stuff like Euro Truck Simulator where I want to make use of the 6 speed(12 gears with a spiliter is pretty awesome).

I've taken to using a PS3 controller. The trigger buttons work well for throttle & braking, and overall is quite enjoyable for BeamNG. I highly recommend using a controller if you have one, or Possibly getting one as a cheaper alternative. Xbox360 ones are apparently even easier than PS3(plug and play, no 3rd party software to use).

Well what I did is raised the power but added in more realistic transmissions.

I also almost doubled the weight considering the size of the engine and the fact it has to be made out of steel.

Please check the post dates before posting. You bumped a thread from 2013.

This mod is probably outdated and may not work in the current version of the game.
Read this for how to install mods: http://www.beamng.com/threads/guide-to-mod-installation.12872/

EDIT: This mod actually requires you to manually place the files in the right folders...
    Either:
    "Documents\BeamNG.drive\mods\unpacked\vehicles\vehiclename"
    "Documents\BeamNG.drive\vehicles\vehiclename"
Replacing vehiclename with the vehicle's name (pickup, van, fullsize, etc...)

Personally, I wouldn't bother trying this mod. It's likely that there are newer mods available that do what you're looking for.
