With that moronic braindead outlook, the developers of Beamng would give up on developing this game entirely and their hard efforts would go to waste. Sim racers would throw away all of their equipment because apparently "you'll never get the experience of actually driving the car", and the entire genre of sim racing would be done for. Horrible argument and defense for low effort/skill by someone who most likely does nothing but watch anime all day and has never driven a car in their entire life.. Another shitty meshslap, so into the trash bin this one goes.
You could also maybe take into consideration that this is their first entire car mod, and it's not gonna be the best 100% accurate recreation of the real thing. I drive an '82 Firebird irl, and I'd say that when given the right suspension tuning, this handles pretty close to the real one as it is. The 200BX's suspension is somewhat of a swing-axle type and cambers in and out similar to a solid rear axle in turns. However, reusing the Moonhawk's suspension geometry is possible since it has a pretty similar setup to the third gen F body (which is probably mildly tweaked from some GM fullsize car of the period, knowing how much they reused mechanical parts)
I was certainly taking that into consideration before this anime fan became all hostile and condescending. I wanted to hear from someone who actually has the car in real life and can provide feedback for how the car drives at the limit and how this mod maker could possibly implement those aspects into this mod. But weeaboos don't know courtesy and have to bring their sarcastic bullshit here where it's unwarranted.
A tad harsh? Seems like if given time the car could be good, though it wouldn't be the first mod that doesn't reach it's potential.. Just keep up the work!
It’s a WIP Beta release, which means it’s still in development. I understand that you don’t want to use a mesh slap, but you don’t need to write a whole hate message about it. This is a first for us
I wasn't trying to hate, just trying to evaluate whether it was accurate enough to consider downloading. I knew it wouldn't be a 1:1 recreation, but I wanted to know if it was at least somewhat accurate.
He came at me with a condescending and hostile attitude, so I responded in kind. Better to get back to the topic at hand before someone talks about how the thread is being derailed/off topic/whatever other bull. --- Post updated --- And by the way, this was the response I was expecting, an actual helpful reply outlining what could be done to make the mod more accurate.
Nothing i said was particularly condescending. I think you just want a reason to be mad. Grab a beverage and calm down, lol. I've poked at suspension, it's not like I havent tried to make an effort. I tried dropping in suspension from a few different cars that would be more accurate (although beamng doesnt really have anything accurate accurate by default) With my knowledge of jbeaming drivetrain and suspension as it stands, none of them worked appropriately Sim-racing is still not like driving a real car. You can learn and develop techniques but it's another process applying them behind the wheel. - either way that's a whole other debate for athletes and not someone like me who drives a free 94 thunderbird and gokarts. Soon i'll fix up that free 71 chevelle as well, 454s are pretty cool. I do watch anime on occasion, but I find that to be more enjoyable than getting mad at weirdos on the internet. No hobby shaming tho. I don't have enough time to watch anime like I used to. But anyway, I got pretty curious, and it seems most your (recent) posts are just complaining - mostly with valid criticism behind them but always in a condescending manner. ie "Like I said before, a suv mod that actually handles like an suv and rolls over instead of spinning out because the developers can't be assed to make a realistic handling modern suv for the game themselves." "Even admits he's not even gonna bother altering the shitty jbeam because it's "good enough". Low standards. Into the trash bin this one goes." "Get used to that disappointment, not just with this game, but modern PC game modding nowadays as a whole." You sound like an entitled asshole. And you begin to wonder why the beamng modding community feels like a dying group of people. Most of these people are doing this for fun, you can always meet your standards by modding yourself. I do whats fun for me, and you have the right to download mods that are fun for you, everyones happy!!!! But instead, there's lots of harassment for "not being good enough" and so people leave. Of course, this behaviour is also coming from someone who has made zero contributions to modding.
Yeah, I can personally say that jbeams are not simple. Every little tiny node on the car has its own X, Y, and Z coordinates measured in meters from the origin point. I should also mention that there's stuff like dampening values, strength, node weight, offset and so on that needs to be fine tuned to the car it's being swapped on. So you could imagine that swapping in the suspension from another car wouldn't be so easy, though it is (probably) easier than making a whole new suspension from scratch. I haven't dabbled much in jbeam, but I know that it takes a LOT of effort to make a good mod, so please, PLEASE don't start drama over something you aren't even making or being forced to download. --- Post updated --- also bruh
Typical chef's food fallacy, when you have no better argument other than to tell someone to do it themselves. Funny thing is that most modern modders today, especially from this new generation, are "entitled assholes". Most of them aren't "doing it for fun" anymore, but money. I didn't do a thing to drive the good modders away and always made sure to praise their efforts. I'm just mad because many of them left. I took back what I said about the charger mod and apologize to the creator of that thread, despite several people agreeing with my post. And I came across the wrong way by accidentally calling this a meshslap. But I still mean everything I said about the SUV handling and the pathetic state of pc modding now. I set my profile to private precisely so that people like you don't stalk and scrutinize it, but you still conveniently manage to run into the few posts I make on here and cherry pick the bad ones while ignoring the many other times I've given credit where it's due. And once again, I never said that sim racing was a 1:1 recreation of driving an actual car, you're the one twisting my words out of context. But it's still pretty goddamn close enough to driving a real car and led to me knowing how to drive better than most of the muppets on the road, and others with a wheel can attest to that as well. The reason I still play this game is to see how different cars drive at the limit. Once again, If the developers wanted to they could completely halt development on the tire model/physics and turn it into another shitty mainstream need for speed or forza horizon game, just because people like you think that it's "not like driving a real car", therefore any effort put into realism for any driving game, let alone this one, is a waste of time. I'm not letting you have the last word without me getting a proper say in the matter, but I'll let this topic get back on course.
Very few are. Sure, some people do and I think i'm not a fan of the idea either (like, if you feel like you need to be reimbursed through $$ for doing your hobby - you should try something else. for me the reimbursement is how satisfying things are when they come together. whole other discussion though, again.) but it's always the same couple of people. There are probably 10x more modders making free mods than paid. Also, I didn't stumble upon a few posts, I can search your name and the ratio of praise to asshole is not impressive People can make their own judgement on that tho. My single idea of "But, at the end of the day, it's a video game, you'll never get the experience of actually driving the car " managed to make you go on a multi post spree of ranting and insults. Like, talk about fragile lmao. Even if you don't like the idea, nothing there was targeted at you personally. Nothing wrong with how you play the game, but at the end of the day, I'm a hobbyist and not a developer. I do the best to make things that are fun for me, and no one else because I don't care. I share them because other people might like them too. I try to add some amount of realism but A. haven't had the time/opportunity to work on this mod in a while, or much at all and B. i'm only so experienced/have so much equipment. It's still pretty insulting though when you say I have "'low effort/skill", and still a bit of a stupid insult for someone who hasn't modded anything. You can't gauge what it takes to learn and do this work. You don't have to be an artist to criticise a painting, but you have to have an understanding of how things work. Maybe you're secretly some genius, but you're not giving me the impression.
It seems like you keep going back on how the car handles and I’ll say it again, we’re getting the engines and transmissions done first in order to get the suspension done correctly. It’s important for that to get done first so it can be properly tuned for the power the suspension is going to receive.
currently not much more of a meshlap with some extra features, the main features that annoy me rn are the bad interior, also no custom wheels/a lot of reused models which make it look like a modland special
and i never said it wasnt infact its mentioned in OP that its a glorified 200bx. glad u have to make your point tho. interior model has honestly just gotta go or suck forever, driver sf model truly sucks.
yeah actually really closely. the weight feels 1 to 1 tbh. the suspension is a little stiff and its a liiiiiitttlle bit heavier in the game but honestly i have 0 complaints. its been the only car ive been using in the game since i downloaded it lol. --- Post updated --- thank you
