thanks, appreciate the positive comments, still have a lot of plans for this thing that need to be modeled ect.. so stay tuned hahahaxddddlmao true lol, thanks for reminding me, yeah the USDM will have all of those things which will not be featured on JDM models (I will have to look up about the CHMSL, but pretty sure JDM cars of the period did not require nor feature them). The USDM models will also have the front indicators function as dual circuit parking lights, that said the Avante will have clear parking lights on the side of the headlights, but I likely won't convert these to amber. looking at an MX73 you can see the clear parkers, along with orang side markers and the ones in the bumper Also for the imperial USDM guage clusters i will have a bespoke "UNLEADED FUEL ONLY" label under the speedo so that Cleetus Dinglefart the third doesn't accidentally fill his Avante with leaded fuel, ketchup or dishwasher fluid Also want to figure out lua a bit so I can have a chime sound effect play upon opening the door, turning on the ignition, to once again remind Cleetus Dinglefart the third that he is in fact in an automobile A door chime could probably work similar to how Hirochi's piano works where upon opening a set beam a sound plays, though not sure how I would go about an ignition chime, might have to get the help of some other community members for that and I will try not to make the sound effect Africa by Toto but no promises And now I just had a brilliant idea why not have a voice system like many cars in the 80s did where a computerised man from behind the dash would tell you 'a door is ajar' I could probably sort something out for the sound samples but would need help with the lua lol
for the auto seat belts will they be activated by starting the car and for the ignition chime retrox did that for the 400 update on the dfa pack so you could ask him
likely they won't be active at all as it is just too much jbeam work for such a small detail lol though the 3d model itself will likely be different speaking of which this being a pillarless hardtop, the seatbelts for the jdm model will likely be mounted to the roof rails, which when not in use will be folded away to not upset the clean open space
You might also want to have 55mph labeled or marked with an orange dot or something. Most usdm cars had this until '95 because of the national 55mph speed limit. The Cressida doesn't for some reason but other mid-80s Japanese cars do, the Maxima has a little dot and the Accord has it labeled seperately in orange
yeah true, to my knowledge there was (at least in the mid 80s) a strict law/regulation demanding 55mph markings, most manufactures just did it out of curtosey, although as you mentioned the Cressida doesn't have any sort of marking Also a little progress update, made this texture (still WIP) today for the analogue guage cluster need to adjust the size of a few things still, plus there are a few logos and stiffs that need to be added in but yeah as you can see I will be taking a different approach from the BeamNG method of mapping whole gauge textures to one flat plane, instead I will have a series of small, flat planes mapped to specific parts of this texture with alpha background to blend it in. One of the advantages of this method is you have less wasted space for the large, mostly blank guage faces, thus higher resolution numerals can be used Also it is modular in nature, so as you can see the JDM, USDM cluster, as well as various clusters with different redlines can all share the same material and texture, relying on slightly different UV/s and meshes to make the difference Also figured it was time to finally sort out the materials, so I made a start on that. Seeing as BeamNG uses PBR now, I made a basic shader of nodes in Blender to visualise how things will look in game the shader also allows me to use the UV pallete skin to visualise colourable skins in blender, where these independent Principled BDSF shaders are applied respectively to the red, green and blue channel of the map
Found this Maxima with factory gradient graphics, would be cool for sport models Here are some cool Maxima two-tone color combos i found as well
I mean, the Avante is literally the same colour scheme as that Maxima on the left It will be one of the flagship colours, and I will likely have several other cool two tones A lot of Japanese cars of the 80s generally didn't actually have that many colour options (especially JDM models, this is partly why literally every GX71 Mark II you see is Super White II lol), though I am thinking for the Avante (and my other lore friendly mods) I will favour a wide variety of colour combinations over 'authenticity' I'm also thinking there will be three different types of two tone, a traditional split at the trim, a higher bodyline split as I have showed so far (and like that maxima) and also a middle split with a separate center colour (like some 80s toyota models)
talking computerized man to tell you stuff is open and something is broken/malfunctioning is the best idea ive ever seen for a beamng car oh my god it'd be so fun to mess with lol
true lol, given what has been done with the likes of the vertex im sure with some lua knowledge the possibility is there to do some cool things
