It's sad, the sites that re-upload our content are better off than we are. They plaster their sites with ads and even have paid subscriptions on some of them, adfly links etc. So they'd be earning a fair bit off it.
hmm i have an idea how we could stop or at least cut it down a bit. when the game has server support, we could have it where the game will only load mods if you are signed in and have bought the game. so if you pirate it and try to put mods into the game it wont load them. (until someone comes along and manages to spoof the game into thinking its connected) or have a mod browser built into the game and you can only download the mods actually in the game. not sure how possible that it, maybe when its finally on steam and you have to use the workshop maybe.
This is complete B/S and needs to stop, the users who re-upload others content should have the decency to at least abide by the request of the creator(s) and not supply any sort of "mirror" unless they have said otherwise. I cannot believe that we are still experiencing this crap.... I guess, they will stop at nothing.... I am sorry this has happened to you Mythbuster, I can say, I personally would hate this and I hope this doesn't happen for much longer as I can see it rendering many creators to cease releasing, which is a bummer. I was just checking in to see if you had updated since the initial release, but to my dismay, people cannot respect your wishes. Cheers, Sean
The guys from Euro Truck Simulator 2 MP mod are using hashed downloads to track down any reupload of their mod. It could be an idea for mods over here, to track down who reuploaded the mod and take action. Myth, you can write not to reupload something in any language, but they just won't give a shit. From a conversation I had with the admin of modsshitgaming, he told me they do that to "have something to offer more than other sites". In few words, they are prick.
Oh man, this whole situation is just stupid...I hope the guy who reuploaded this feels at least a little bit of shame...Good decision about the group. As long as it keeps you motivated and as long as it's preventing more of this stuff to happen everything is fine. But please don't stop posting progress pics for us people who don't know you well enough to join the group...I don't want this car to disappear. Anyways..chin up and don't forget about the hunderts of people who look up to you and admire your work.
Well, I'm an app/game developer for android and I'm usually pretty open with my ideas with friends, classmates and professors, so I definitely understand the risks involved in publicly sharing your creations. In fact, last year I shared an app with a classmate so he could port it over to iPhone more efficiently than I could and he ended up putting my Android app on google play. He didn't make money from it, and I eventually got him to take it down, but it was still a low blow. So, yeah, I can understand where he's coming from with this, but if you sit back and really think about it, is taking this away from everyone that's supported everything he's done really the right thing to do? When my classmate put my unfinished app up, it really motivated me to work 100% harder to get my finished product on the market. I like to think that piracy of electronic media means the creator is doing something right. "Mimicry is the sincerest form of flattery" and all that.
Oh my god. When i read through the thread... It really makes me sad, again and again. Still i´m wondering why those sites exist etc... But i think putting mods in groups shouldnt be necessaary, but well it is. I was shocked when they put my map on their site and i cant do anything against it. I think any modder on this Forum gets shocked when they see their hard builded content on those sites. And me and many others are still thinking of what todo against piracy. No one has a clue right now. And i dont know why here are still a few thieves that steal our content. I know you said dont bag for Group invitings but i think those who want to join should PM you and you could decide if you will put them in. Sorry for this halflong bad english text, hopefully you had a clue what i was saying, understand me and now think about what we can do. Also im thinking Nadeox idea was really nice.
one problem with it tho is the hash only changes if the file changes. so if i was to download this and then reupload it it would have the same hash. unless you mean they search for the hash on the internet to find the same file. all i have to do is whack a text document or any random file and the size will change along with the hash. another idea i had is when you download the file from the website it imports a encrypted version of your product key into the file so when you install it, the game will decrypt the key and check if it matches with the serial of your game. but im not sure how that would work but i would say its possible. anyway the group idea will work but does that mean that you are never going to release it then?? because once you have finished it will only probs get uploaded anyway.
This is a pretty unfortunate situation to be in. I did see that this happening though as every car released here is instantly uploaded to a couple of sites in less than a few minutes. And to add to this its usually done on the Russian site were they actually pretend to be the real BeamNG devs.. Hell they even had the pre race update uploaded via adfly before I had even downloaded it. So they are defiantly making a good bit of money through doing this.
So, if you're in the 'group', you can get fabulous mods, but if you're not, you don't get those mods?
Ok here's the deal with what I'm thinking to do. I'll still release my stuff publicly, but only once it's finished(like I always used to do, basically). I'll also have a beta group for a few people that I know I can trust, and then some that have a decent enough posting history that they wouldn't be dicks like that. Begging to be in it will get you nowhere, probably more the inverse. It just makes me think you're too immature anyway. I haven't made any group yet. I'm also thinking weither or not I should have a strict rule on no pictures on the forums ever, and you'd get immediately kicked out if you don't listen. That would be a great way to see who can read, and who can't. Just ideas for now though
It's a different website than the common one, however I'm sure it's been uploaded there too. EDIT: Woah, it's apparantly not been uploaded there yet. Didn't expect that kind of courtesy!
Don't take this the wrong way, I'm not asking to get in. I'm just wondering: will it just be major content creators invited, or generally trustworthy people?

Here's a major progress update(for me anyway). I litterally spent ALL the time from when I first had this ingame until now searching the web for useable pictures of the rims the 1JZ-GTE has so I could model them. That's well over a month(of course I was focussing on other stuff, but I did spend a LONG time on it. Today, I finally found two pictures of the same car(a sale advert), so I'm gonna start right away! I freaking knew eventually I would find them. I hate modeling rims from bad photos because they're so hard to get right. I still need a straight-on shot of these rims, found on the Mark II, Cresta and Cressida: I already have some good pictures of other rims which I'll be making as well that were on lower spec versions
