OK I'll get that onto another service as soon as practical. Gimme a day or two on here to get that up (should be sooner, but approval processes for public facing stuff can take time). Actually I might need a few extra days since the bug reports (derp, my bad). Let's fix the bugs before I upload it again. Yeah, that. Make sure you grab the part of the link after the # sign on the link given, because that's the unlock key for the file. You should be able to select all of it and either copy-paste it in browser go-to box / address bar, or highlight it and right click (or tap in way you need on phone) to open dialog box to then choose open link. it'd be link(dot)site(dot)com/morestufforfilenamehere(poundsign)decryptionkey I used to put the entire link within quotes. Sometimes this makes it work for some but simultaneously breaks it for others. Stupid technology! I don't have Google drive (not that I know of) because I didn't even HAVE a google login until last month or the previous month, when I finally HAD to get one due to something on the Android telephone I (had to get) got. THANK YOU!!! This is the type of bug reports I need. The water is different. It's not you. It's me. I tried to find something decent color-wise but was working on a non-calibrated monitor (none of them are calibrated but I know what works on this one). There's also a light green river somewhere not too far from where I added more speed humps (not far from the sprawl mart) that I need to adjust. Drain texture is z-fighting due to wrong priorities with a non-translucent texture. Don't know why it's non-translucent because there SHOULD be one available for decals like that *shrugs*, something to look into here. Prob used the mesh texture. OOPS. Arrows are reversed probably from a copy-paste operation that never was completed. I try not to re-invent the wheel and copy-paste when and where possible for consistency reasons first and foremost. There are SO.MANY.FIELDS which one can screw up by forgetting to input just the right thing when re-making every decal road manually - which in this level, those arrows are (a decal road). Fields such as Width/Break Angle/Can AI see it/ Is it on map?/ texture used / priority layering / new or old render spline / texture length or how often it repeats / more I forget to name just like I'd forget to give them values and create a bug later (ETC). Yes. LEVELS ARE COMPLICATED. I miss original Doom. Speaking of stupid technology. AI assistant. Another one I don't need. I don't need a computer digital assistant unless it'd going to build a professional looking 3D game world for me. I certainly don't need one in Acrobat Reader whose annoying every-time-you-open-it prompt takes up 10~15% of the screen I used to use for reading with the - surprise - reader. Sheesh. I just wanted to read the 2 paragraphs of text that came with the DOOM LEVEL that I've downloaded. Original Doom level. You know, the thing that tells you that you're probably daft for not already assuming you should use Zdoom / GZDoom or the RT version of such, already, to run the pWAD file. AI - the solution in search of a problem. In-fact I set my discord status to exactly THAT. I've started deleting any application that adds in USELESS AI PROMPTS OR LINKS TO AI, TO LINK ME TO SOMETHING TO RECOMMEND I SHOULD WALK TO THE CAR WASH AROUND THE CORNER INSTEAD OF DRIVING THERE! To developers out there. STOP MAKING THIS [CENSORED - read: ANYTHING] SO COMPLICATED. I DON'T WANT TO HAVE TO DO 5 THINGS TO ACCOMPLISH ONE THING. I DO NOT NEED AI. WHEN I NEED IT, ILL GO FIND IT. What's next? AI TOILET PAPER? (hint: it's all toilet paper) So help me if I'm still sane by next year. What do we as computer users or technology users NEED an ASSISTANT for??? PAYING FOR OVERPRICED COMPUTER HARDWARE (this isn't me begging for a new computer, no, this is me bringing up reality). I. HAVE. NEVER. used the same computer for nearly SEVEN years, though I was going around 5 with the last one. In JULY it will be 7 years. Holy smokes. That said, I've replaced the motherboard a year after upgrading the processor, and the GPU and SSD have seen upgrades. Even my blu-ray drive was replaced with another optical drive because it died (of loneliness more than likely). I'm actually using a drive that directly impacted a trash dumpster at full speed when the disused PC it was in was TOSSED into a trash dumpster YEARS ago. The same PC I found the intel i5 3470 processor in, which I put in my mother's computer I built for her (she was using something AM2 Regor-core based, big upgrade). I repaired the drive and it mostly works, though you have to put your thumb on the outside edge of the tray if it doesn't want to pick up the disk because I did a 'meh' job of re-shaping the drive's tin shell. For what it's worth I have two used LG drives sitting on-top the PC, one of which that I'll put in next time I have to open it up for whatever reason, seeing as they're pennies for cost anymore. Yes, I still have quite a heap of DVD movies, old CD's and DVD's of computer software. Yes, yes I still use my CD-ROMs, even if some of them don't work anymore due to plastic going bad and dry-rotting. For what it's worth, I've recently found my SLINGO CDROM from the 90's and have been playing quite a bit lately. Yes. SLINGO. That game some of your mums played on AOL in the late 90's. That one. In all of it's 800x600 glory. I didn't even have to fire up my Windows 3.11 WFW to get that one running! Hooray for simple old good games. That and old Simcity / Simcity 2000 / original Doom / Tank Wars (Bomb) are charming old PC games that never grow old. Old games are great. You don't need to buy more RAM for them. RAM is expensive, and so are drives, and other components even HARD DRIVES are sold out. All for something that is not yet built that we do not yet need that we do not have the power to supply it with (nor the water in many places), paid for with future capitol that's nothing but speculative investing. O boy. Stay away from the economy kids, this ship is goin' down! I'm not kidding. I'd be doing nothing but shorting stocks this year unless you're playing the long game - but don't take my word for it (read: this is not official financial advice, I just see the 'big picture' from here). What I'm alluding to is OPEN AI. Even MICROSOFT, as out-of-touch as they've been historically and in the last 5 to 10 years, has bailed from that ship. They have NO sustainable business model! IT DOES NOT EXIST - how do I know? They're already implementing / have implemented their 'last resort' which was in-app integrated advertising. Those investors are idiots. Glory to the day when THIS bubble pops - not for me wishing bad on anyone - no that's not it - it's glory to the day we the people get reasonable hardware prices again. If you're wondering about what I think of recently brought-up chinese RAM? Well I ended up with a kit of it (mismatched to my other kit) when I tried buying (in 2021 or 2022) Corsair memory that was supposed to be MICRON memory chips to match my original 32gb Micron kit I got from Crucial brand of memory when I built this. Luckily RAM is made to a standard, so with the slowest kit 1st, CAS-15 3000mhz, plus the chinese CAS-16 3200mhz RAM in the 2nd pair of slots, it works fine. Truth be told, those two RAM speeds are effectively the same. The only difference is stability of your processors communication bus with the ram (and thus, speed which core complexes speak to one another). My old PC. It uses 3000mhz CL-15 RAM. It's a 3000 series Ryzen. It's still good enough. Just. But it's still good enough for me. I'm just happy to live indoors, to be quite honest. Now if I can just get my mobility back seeing as moving damn near crippled me (read: it basically DID), I'll be a happy guy as it's going to be in the 70's this week and might top 80F. KEEP THE BUG REPORTS COMING, NO MATTER HOW SMALL OR BIG! -That's all for right now --The Bob!
Another bug I found a few minutes ago I'd like to mention is the no texture house by the Simpsons House spawn point(Unsure if you mentioned that one already or not). There is also a no texture house by that backwards arrow I mentioned as well(Again, unsure if you/someone has mentioned it yet) This is all I've found so far. Will continue to drive 'round in search of anything.
The one by the backwards arrow, that's the one I brought up in the errata when I uploaded (it's hidden by trees). I'll see if I can't get those stupid things (textures) fixed before I re-upload (along with other bugs). Figures there's another one. I must have not drove that road since the version update / since changing texture files around. That's right folks - you heard it here first! I'M THE KING IDIOT! Or so I feel with some of those bugs... Never-the-less, I'll get to fixing them likely Wednesday-Thursday. Things are going to be EXTREMELY crazy the next few days - and my back is still being a PRETZEL, though admittedly 30% less so (give or take a few %). --That's it for right now -The Bob
Feel free to send in whatever you find! I am always ears when it comes to bugs - unless it's spiders large enough to go THUNK when you kick one after not seeing it - and it's EXTRA hairy. *Screams like June Cleaver seeing a RAT in the KITCHEN*. ... and that actually happened, too, about a decade ago, the day before I coincidentally fixed ALL the weather-stripping on all SEVEN doors on the house in one day. Haven't had to scream like that since & would prefer not too. Still plenty of time to send in bugs because, instead of fixing them, I was building more stuff. Oops. Better than accidentally kicking huge hairy black spiders bare-footed that're big enough to bite through your (smaller) toes. I could have a pet tarantula just fine. I'd be just fine unless of-course it blasts me with hairs or tries to eat me, but they're usually fine unless you're unusually food-flavored that day. A big hairy spider not moving too much in a cage is way way better than a SURPRISE big hairy black one you just now realized exists, right now, on the floor, in a bedroom, in your house, right next to your flesh. Now if only I did that when I was supposed to be doing that and not when it comes time to fix all the bugs. I DID fix the wrong-way double-arrow next to the house with no-texture, which still has no-textures on it - for now. Plus, drive-way cut-outs (standard sized ones) are now available with bends and slope-changes. Now you can conform to hills, curves, and make cul-de-sac style environments. All will be available for use as-needed in the MRK folder for supporters. Also, half-length sidewalks (with planting strip) with curves in them are now available. All-concrete set and the curb-only set already had some of those. It IS pathed for AI, which will just do a 3 point turn at the end of the road more than likely (unless I get annoyed with it and change it, to a loop or something loosely resembling one). This development will have modern colonial homes (somethings from 1970's ~ today) in it when I get to that point. --That is all for right now. It's nice living indoors. Without narcissists. Back is on the mend, but still temper-mental. -The Bob. FIXED: *Re-assigned no-texture house texture entries in the model. The wood-cladding texture it used isn't there anymore in the newer ECA so when I removed the files I used for the level, there were no file to use, thus no-texture / no-material issue. Either that or it was one I made for Roane County, and just didn't remember. It now uses eca_bld_woodcladding_old. You will NEED to delete the following cached file (with the game CLOSED) when you download the next update: ...\current\temp\levels\LosInjurus\art\shapes\Buildings\MetroCity\Ranch_medium_sided_2.cdae and then load the level. The game will re-do that model without the no-textures for the LOD's also, and it will show up fine. Otherwise, only the full-detail version (up-close) will be fixed (or no version will be fixed?). Do not delete the DAE file, only a CDAE file. If you only see DAE files, get outta there because that's level structure; cache files are CDAE files that are cached/compressed DAE (model) files that DirectX and Vulkan (and the game engine) use. Removing CDAE files will almost always fix any issue with a map update not wanting to stick / take effect, thus recommendations to 'clear cache'. This might take a minute or two to do, but still will likely be faster than the forever and a half this thing can take to load (seriously, it CAN take longer than GTAV on some machines, even the updated newer edition of it - though updates of THIS game engine have remedied this a ton especially on subsequent loads in 0.38.x ). A version or two ago it took 20~30 minutes on 1st load. Oops. Found a THIRD instance of that house. It's fixed now. It has hideous pink siding because... well that's what showed up. It's actually WHITE siding and the color you see is the color compression errors of original DX1 dds file standards. *Fixed stupid storm-sewer with wrong priority level thus causing flickering due to it being a solid (non-decal) texture. Decals with wrong priority just hide, mesh (solid / opaque) textures will flicker with a grainy appearance and just be generally obviously broken. Supporters; Please save the instructions above where it talks about which model to clear, you'll need this soon when the update comes out unless you just want to nuke the cache folder for the entire level and have it do 1st-run preps again. That's a matter of preference, but the way I mentioned saves time and hopefully takes less time than reading all this mumbo-jumbo. *Fixed water a bit, in two spots. The lake is somewhat better (it's still not perfect). There's a stream I fixed too.
It's on the Patreon. The Patreon helps fund level development, ESPECIALLY now. It doesn't usually cover everything if a big expense comes up, but it helps me save up money to pay the yearly software fees and repair the PC (now nearly 7 years old) when it inevitably blows up, and also helps pay for textures, models, and other assets that I might purchase to help speed things up. It WOULD be available on the public site, but the promised tools added to the editor utterly and completely did NOT work. At all. Seriously. That and the devs would rather not host the full-fat version of the level (without being optimized and having redundant textures and assets removed), as that brought down the entire server one year around Christmas - when both the game - and this project, updated. The Patreon link is in my bio description, in the first post on here (I think it is), and definitely on the resource page. Update: I am doing what I can when I can, but after recently moving, and still trying to get in shape from being COMPLETELY crippled (100%) last month with my back going nuclear, it slowed down development. I cannot sit here long stretches like I used to. Maybe I will move the recliner over to here. Not sure I can get back out though if I put that over here. Might put it on wheels. That'd probably work. As far as locals go, there's the older generation, mostly older than me, are the God fearing Christians - who are wonderful. Then there's the younger generation (and their kids) that are so paranoid schizo that even trying to be nice/neighborly and such causes them to freak out, claim you are dangerous for trying to be a nice Christian, and hide in their apartment and talk about you behind their back. Absolutely nuts society is turning into. Slowly learning that sometimes no company is better. In all honesty, I'm really starting to hate this country. People are so paranoid that you can't even be nice to them or greet their children as they pass (you're suppose to greet people you know - and their family members - when they pass by you, right?). Needless to say, sometimes prison is just easier mentally, definitely easier than some of the looneys around here, hopefully it doesn't get to the point where I'd rather be there and not here. --That's all for the moment. -The Bob
Went to check on something in Los Injurus (had to fire up the level to check it out) and not only do I forget what it was, but I thought, gee, good time to work on the level project some. I originally went in to check (I think it was a bug fix a while back) to see if my apartment building was still working (the one I made not the one I live in), just to be sure, before I use it to make anything else from (it's one of the more detailed buildings). This lot now has all it's parking stalls, stop signs, arrows, and a roundabout for no real reason, other than that my brain figured that'd work. It still needs trees/bushes/pavement texture randomization and AI pathing, even though we all hate AI... except when it's in BeamNG.Drive. My back is far from perfect but it's getting better... definitely improving! Hopefully I don't have to throw anyone around via some self-defense / combat and it just might stay good for a while. Oh, and I'm likely about to be weighing-in at one of my lowest weigh-in around a decade. I sure feel that way and I know I was only a few pounds away last time. I shall MOO no more! No more accidentally flattened chairs/couches/beds/cars/houses/space stations! Sure makes it easier to walk and go up or down stairs, too. This is a BIG 180 from not being able to walk a month ago. Maybe threatening my back with crutches worked, or just the presence of them being here and now of-course as things always do go, I won't need them. Let's hope I don't, as that's one thing I don't mind 'wasting' money on and not using. --That's all for the moment. -The Bob EDIT: I had a Sonic shake the other day, and I don't know how they do it, but the manage to make my (and my attached neighbor's) bathroom sonic-ly shake about 2 hours after the fact. Amazing stuff. Don't know how they do it, but the neighbors might find it's time to learn to do spackling now. OK OK I admit, that's part of how I lost some of the weight. Heh heh. BOOM!...
Hey, I just made an account on the forums a few days ago and wanted to say I love this map. It's my favorite to play on and I've been following the map since June of 2023. It's amazing to see all the progress that you've made and I thank you so much for this map! Glad you're still working on it and hope it continues going well for you.
Just so folks know, when they see the next update 'hotfix' of Los Injurus up on the Patreon linked private hosting server, that I'll be working on Roane County and making that thing run again. I got a decent start on that last year, but it went on the back burner for some reason - I think I forget, but it was likely the work-load being very heavy and the software fighting me (bugs, lots of things have changed since I created the level, and the formatting of everything has changed). So yeah, that will be a thing. ...And now you know. Sorry it's not more interesting. Waiting a bit on game features to show up to add more content (otherwise, 8gb cards and 12gb cards won't be able to run this very well), supposedly these features are in the works according to the roadmap. --That's all for right now -The Bob
