There was a comment on an RPS article that I've taken to heart with regards to Burnout: 2 was the best racing game, 3 was the best crashing game, and Paradise was the best driving game. I can't say too certainly for 2, as I hardly played that one, but I agree on the others. I liked Revenge and all, but while the traffic checking was a great feature, I think they might have overdone it. Also, there was some cheat code pack... thing that I got for my PS2 a long time ago. One of the cheats it unlocked in Burnout 3 was the ability to lock in which vehicle you'd be using in advance, so regardless of which class or car you selected or were supposed to be using, it would keep putting you in the same vehicle. In theory, this would allow you to put yourself in a supercar during a compact class race, but instead I spent probably a solid two days putting each and every heavyweight vehicle through road rage events, to the end of some of my favorite gaming memories to date.
This answers a question... This is a beta pic of Paradise showing... the same LMP of the console games!!
guess I can agree with that in part... 2 was one great racing game with the extra of crash junctions... but as with many games of the time, AI opponents feel much heavier than the player, so takedowns were nearly impossible. to me, 3 comes as an evolution in every way... (ea gave them the money) more of what you had on 2 with the added takedown dynamic making racing more fun and chaotic... better graphics and crashes too... after that, i suppose there wasn't much more that could keep the franchise fresh, except maybe freeroam, which wasn't possible on a ps2... still, ea wanted more releases to capitalize on 3's success, including psp releases... if after 3 it went straight to paradise I would be totally fine.
Wooh, the map had steroids... I can say it was nicer, Harbor town had a second chunk that was a... big port place? welp. BSI as an airport could have been interesting, i guess if the runways were freeroam-able... And a beeeeeeeeeeeeg industrial place that was sunk haha Also, I-88 was a lot better that the actual, longer, more straights, man... What do you think about it?
