Just to let you know that unlike BeamMP, which disables other local mods, you can activate the arcade steering mod after connecting to a KissMP server and it works perfectly ^_^ .
The mod works fine with 0.28, but the UI app has a minor issue after the update where some of the values are invisible. I'll fix this in my next update, but in the meantime you can still see the numbers if you select the invisible text. I'll also be reworking the countersteer logic in the next version so it would make more sense than it does currently, so I'll release the update when that's done.
I'll probably rename the mod when I post the next update, I think the name alone is a turnoff for a lot of people, and it's quite misleading. There was some logic behind naming it Arcade Steering at first, but at this point I think it hinders the mod's potential.
I decided on Advanced Steering. Renaming an existing mod is kind of complicated though. I'm not quite sure how the game handles if the name of a mod changes between updates. I'll prepare the code for potential conflicts with the older version, but there's still a chance that the renamed version might break something for existing users. If it does then I'll be releasing a fix as soon as I can though. EDIT: the update went fine, read below.
Alright, the new update is out. The name has been changed to Advanced Steering and I've updated everything accordingly. As a side-effect of the files getting renamed, you'll have to restart the game after the mod is updated for things to work correctly. You'll also have to re-add the UI app to your UI if you want to keep using it. You might see a warning in-game telling you to remove the old version, but a simple restart should fix it.
On another note, I added a page on Github that explains the logic behind using an assist like this. I wrote this because I see a lot of strange arguments about it in the wild, so I wanted a page I can point people to that explains why this exists.
I'm working on adding presets to the UI app in the near future. This means saving / loading multiple different configs, and I'll also include a few factory presets for different driving styles for people who don't want to dive into messing with each setting by hand.
v2.6 is out, now with presets! You might have to restart the game after updating for everything to work right. Also, I added a section to the Config Guide that explains how the presets work.
There is a mod called "Extra AI Race Mission", but it disables Advanced Steeeing mod when entering extra AI races. Can't turn it on no matter what until game restart. Maybe you can fix this issue?
I'll look at this for 2.7, but that will only be released when I can work out how to improve the math for the steering limit.
I use it on the normal mode with 80 mods installed, these 2 mods just hate each other. When I start these Extra AI Race, your mod just disables for me. Maybe mod conflict but what mod? So after you posted your reply, I opened safe mode and test only Advanced Steering and Extra AI Race. Well it worked. Looks like I have to manually disable all these mods one by one and check for error myself. Anyway, thanks for checking.
The only mod for me that is essential is this one since i don“t have a wheel right now. Thanks to the creator, you made and outstanding work.
If any of you happen to play Assetto Corsa, I just released a similar mod for that too: https://www.racedepartment.com/downloads/advanced-gamepad-assist.62485/ It shares some DNA with this one, but it's also different in some ways. I made some improvements compared to this mod, and I might bring those here too when I have the time to update this again.
Hope you can continue updating this for Beam in the future. Must have essential mod as a Gamepad player!
