Oh, I thought it said that Audi is using the current beam AI in self driving cars, I was at first confused, then scared
Ok, i can see how that would be confusing. I think they meant that Audi is using beamng's physics to develop their own AI. Hopefully, the partnership will lead to beamng using Audi's autonomous driving technology to either improve the current AI or replace the current AI altogether. (i hope for option 2 )
Well, the problem isn't in the realism of the AI, but how it's implemented along the maps, for instance, it works fine in ECUSA, JRI, and Small Island, because those all have only 2 lane roads, which are like bread and butter for the AI, but when you get into WCUSA and Utah, the 4+ lane highways begin to confuse the AI, as the system cannot actively recognize that the lane beside it is also in the same direction
Exactly. So, instead of having a system where the AI follows paths without knowing weather it is going in the correct direction, there should be a system where the AI actually monitors its surroundings, can detect other moving objects, and knows how to react and navigate the environment accordingly.
What if they had a system, where the AI could see itself on the map kinda like a GPS, and could see what lane it was in, how close the vehicle infront and behind is, and react to obstacles in the way, such as getting cut off
