On June 20th, Article 13 is expected to be passed into law, which will change the internet for the worst. Things like memes, remixes, and parodies will no longer be legal.

Here's some stuff talking about it, and why it needs to go.

First, the FCC kills Net Neutrality, now this. Can't these politicians just stop it? If the Internet isn't broken, don't try to fix it. o_O

    The f**k?
Sure, memes are tired as hell, but what's wrong with remixes and parodies? They're actually decent (Sullivan King does some great remixes IMO, and JonTron did do some funny parodies in his videos).
EU, just stop. If it's not gonna hurt the union politically, don't interfere with it at all then.

I'm surprised this whole ordeal hasn't garnered all that much attention.

Just remember all country's die eventually. But its how and by who. If Article 13 goes into affect and the company's paying the politician's suffer then things will change quickly. Remember always vote with your wallet not with protest since that don'st work anymore. If all else fails shut down every RICH city with peaceful protest. If their are anarchist in the protest oust them and throw them to the riot cops. (Yes I know article 13 is EU law.)

....or have a official petition to take the law out of place by some lawmaker who is against this idea. That'd be a decent idea (atleast to me).

What if it isn't bad? Have you considered that?

I don't think it's an issue. There will be memes. And people who create content can protect their work. Maybe more people will create original content. Stop reposting. Have a life. If you want to blame someone, blame yourself for voting for the wrong person / not doing anything about it. This is fine imo.

Why are people freaking out about then if it isn't bad?

It's something I've seen time and time again, politicians keep thinking that the internet is broken and needs to be fixed, while to the contrary it's doing just fine.

From what I've heard lately, unsurprisingly, it's been approved. It was nice while it lasted.

Because hysterical posts like "RUN THEYRE COMING FOR OUR MEMZ OMG" are enough to make some people freak out.

Well, that'd be the only good thing about Brexit, as everything else about it was a disaster.
I still see art, Wikipedia, and other stuff that link listed. It's probably gonna affect a few other countries (America definitely didn't get affected though).

That's what I was thinking. If the EU is going to be making poor decisions like that, then Brexit was an okay decision.

I hope the Americas and North/East Asia wasn't affected from Article 13. (Again, except for the US, as it seems as nothing happened today to the internet here.)

Hmm... Interesting. Where did this come from? It obviously never made head, or subheadlines. I'm kind of sitting neutral with this topic. :p

No news are reporting about it and they are doing it while the football/soccer world cup is taking place, so that might be why you haven't heart about it

Just to remind you: if an outside-EU site wants to show its content to EU citizens, it will have to comply with these rules.

Also, why the hell is it numbered "13"?
Is it just for irony or the listing number of articles (rules) in the EU?
