Nah it is not required, plenty of traction in this thing. And 3 motor setup would take up even more space. A mid axle motor would make the most sense as it would eliminate most of the sway caused by the rear rear wheel drive.
Okay, how would you set it up if you were to do an electric version of it, I would say mid axle has enough room for it so I would put the power there but put smaller motors on the rear to provide additional shove when required
what is the weight split between the front, mid and rear axles, the axle with the most weight is where the biggest contact patch is and thats where I would put the motor its gotta be the mid axle!
The mid one isn't only the one with the most weight on it, but it also is in front of the joint which eliminates the problem of the trailer pushing the rest of the bus sideways when accelerating mid turn in hard conditions. It is just a concept. If our cooperation will work out, then I will be trying to make an electric version, but untill then let's focus on the base articulated bus. And I need to stop starting bilions of projects at once, this is going to be my last project for now, of course if author will want my help.
Yeah I see if you push from the rear with a pivot point ahead you cant really control the front of the vehicle, if you apply power ahead of the pivot point its easier to control rather than having two pivot points to worry about which can lead to all sorts of problems
You have to spawn the normal bus (Wentward) and go into Parts-menu (Ctrl+W) Change the option: Standard Frame to Articulated Frame --> there you can find the articulated bus (sorry for mistakes, i'm German)
This has become one of my favorite mods as of late. Well done! Have you considered the possibility of a bi-articulated bus? They range from 80 to 96 ft. Quite magnificent.

It is very tempting idea really. I'll look into that node/beam editor shipped with game, maybe with it's help it will be possible to make it within reasonable time frame.
I think that this is what coulf be the next step after shortening the trailer and the main bus to the proper size as the one currently have is about the size of a bus with double trailers.
Actually no, it would be eay more unstable at highier speeds. The way it is now the bus is way harder to drive due to not shortebed basic bus and the rear end being too long.
At least it should be interesting to drive, because with the current setup it is too easy. However all real bi-articulated buses are pullers, not pushers. Maybe it is more reasonable to make Ikarus 293 (together with all the other modifications). That's quite a big chunk of work and I still not sure I'll have enough time for that.
Very cool to see the progress on this. One thing I discovered accidentally, bus<==>sub. No really, try to drive this thing into the water! When I switched back to the standard non-articulated frame and drove into the water, engine flooded and died as expected. I'm not complaining, it's kind of fun having a sub-bus you can just drive along the seafloor/lake bottom/etc.
