just wanted to reply to say im getting this too, you can ctrl r to fix it but there's no point as it'll break in 10 seconds again anyway (THIS WAS CAUSED BY A BUG WITH THE GAVRIL VERTEX MOD, SORRY DEVS)
I'm not entirely certain if this is the best place to suggest this, but could the maximum volume of the game be increased further in later updates. It seems that Beamng is just simply quieter than other games I play and being able to adjust the volume up to 200% of what is currently available would be a lot easier than adjusting every other application's volume down.
Is it possible to increase smoothness of the sound with low inertia engines in the future? Like even scintilla's default v10 has "sample skips" or "steps" on RPM drop when revving from stand still from 6k to 3k
It's a game performance thing unfortunately, limiting the update speed for audio so we don't over-use the CPU.
It really depends on the type of vehicle. We need quite a bit of volume headroom to accommodate everything we do, and plan to do. It may increase in the future, but certainly not even close to double, perhaps 10-15%.
Just want to say, love the sound of this. The crunch is amazing haha (Edit: I thought the video would be embedded but I guess not, oh well)
And there was me thinking there was a problem with the selection of sounds as it was playing the same each time... THEN - I noticed it was a short video looping
I hope that, in the sound adjustment menu, ground effects and tire screeches will be separated. I think it’s realistic to hear your tires rolling, but whenever I get it to just the right amount of sound, tire screeches are way too loud.
I don't know if it's just me, but it feels like the kerbs sound is way too quiet. Compared to the road noise which is at a pretty realistic level with the latest updates, the kerbs are barely noticeable. Other racing games and IRL footage make them sound a lot louder. Worth noting imho, kerb audio feedback is something I really love and I feel like BeamNG misses out on this
Again, surface noise is way too loud, since last update before 0.29. What actually was changed? After 150 km/h it kicks hard. After 200 you don't hear engine, even screaming v10 sitting just behind. Audi v10 clip comparison https://youtube.com/clip/UgkxB_xtRVMe4ddokiui-xsOQdS8cVxUIxeh As it can be observed, actual wind/surface noise level fights engine sound at around 260+. In beamng wind is okay, but surface slider is on whole another level. In my opinion decent level of surface is around 50 MAX if we presume that all sliders are at 80
As you're probably aware already, the entire surface system is a balancing act to get it proportionately the between a huge range of vehicles and tyres of all sizes and weights. Having a quick look at this now, but I'm not keen on making too many changes to surfaces for one vehicle. I think the issue is more to do with the V10 being considerably quieter than it should be - part of the reason for this is that the engine sample set is pretty nasty, full of noise at low RPM. It's quite unpleasant. I see it's set to be less than half the volume of a standard i4. I'll make some adjustments to that and see if I can improve it. There are also other elements which all contribute to this. So for example the cabin filter and what happens when it EQ's "external" sound coming in to the vehicle. IMO wind is NOT ok. I think it's has too much bass in the cabin view, and that will contribute to the perception that the asphalt is too loud. It's never one thing such as "surface sounds are too loud" - and therefore the solution isn't just to turn one thing up or down. As I said, I'll take a look, but I need to look at the overall picture for all vehicles. N.B. this also looks like it needs a change in the LUA setup, and we've specifically not made LUA changes to this release
While you're not far from here, does muffle-bubble require driver node only? If yes, can i duplicate it to have both sides count as interior?
Anyone mentioning the sound of tires on the threshold of their limits? Would really like to hear the tires giving that sliding sound during cornering. Also lots of foliage in Jungle doesn’t produce sound when sliding past it. You can clip through most of the plants in silence.
Thank god I'm not alone. I think surface noise is too loud, too. Inside or outside doesn't matter. I can't say anything for wind noise but surface is too much. One benefit of this is you can hear cars coming towards you well. But from surface noise i can't hear engine. And also when other cars are reloading, cockpit sound changes to like it's not muffled anymore. If i change my car after that, cockpit sound gets back to normal. I've seen that these two issues are mentioned before and definitely needs a little adjustment in my opinion.
