Well I do like that haha taking pride that the car is Aussie I have read a few SS reviews and they refuse to acknowledge it as being Aussie made, it is annoying. On-topic: some of the first Fords made in Australia were made by Holden(before they were making their own) which I find funny due to the fact they are now major rivals. ^^ 48-215 first Holden series and its a ute
That is quite interesting, I haven't heard of this before. Do you have a source for the info? I know they started with a model T in a wool store and started a factory in Norlane, doesn't say who put the car together. (imported from here) 1934 looks like a banana lol
"Henry joined with Frederick Hack in 1918 formed what was known as Holden Motor Body Builders. The company was building bodies for Chevrolet, Ford, Buick, Essex and Hupmobile by 1920 and was building more than 500 bodies a month by 1922." (http://www.jaunay.com/holden.html) "HMBB builds an impressive reputation and bodies for Dodge, Buick, Ford, Chevrolet, Studebaker, Overland, Hupmobile, Essex, Durant and Dort – and some European marques." (http://www.classicholdencars.com/holden-cars) I heard it from some bloke on facebook didn't believe it at first either and there is almost no info on it. As far as I know Ford only had holden make them while they were they were having a factory of their own built in Geelong. On-Topic: Never liked those first ford utes but they had to start somewhere I guess. haha
Yea you are right, couldn't find anything. I wouldn't put it past them though back in those days. They were businessmen and I don't think there was a great Ford vs Holden thing going on when they were first in Australia haha. In the end they are both still Australian car manufacturers and are unfortunately in a bit of trouble. Thanks for the info mate, I appreciate it.
Yeah as far as I know this was before GM owned Holden and Holden would have built a Rolls if they could make money, it was just business. haha
I have always thought of those el camino's and ranchero's as being more ute than pick-up anyway but that's just my opinion. I know I would love a HSV Maloo ute.
I love aussie cars. We have the very common '99 Holden Commodore but it works like a dream. Driving to Sydney feels way shorter than it actually is.
I've always enjoyed what you guys down under call the "Ute". I prefer the Falcon XR6 Turbo as opposed to the Maloo though. Dat rollbar tho I might have to import one of these for myself. - - - Updated - - - Oh God.... I have to have one!
One of my neighbours near me has a Holden. Can't remember the model but i will get a photo of it tomorrow if i remember
I ask that you never return to this thread again. Rules: No foreign POS No wasting whole pages with arguments No insulting Australian cars JK but you've been warned
