Are you in need of help with the gauges??? I'm obsessed with them, so that is why I'm asking? Ummm if you do, PM me.. But car looks great so far.. Cant wait to see this in the game, along with the gauges!!

    Progress update:

Model - I made textures for the grille, made the speedometer and rev counter, added the badges and some little fixes/changes ^.^

Notes - This is how the badges and grille should look on the GT model. I may add a little black around the rear Banpei badge if I decide it's needed, but other than that it's the same. The speedometer is the same across all models, and the rev counter shown is specific to the GT model. Warning is at 7500rpm, and the max. permissible rpm is 8000rpm. For maximum power driving with the T16G engine, up-shifting between 7500-8000rpm is best.

Jbeam - I added node groups with specific masses, and used the node scale to make the weight right. The shell now weighs 440kg, and the total weight of the vehicle will be 922kg. I also made a basic jbeam of the engine, although I have not got it to work yet. Here are some screenshots

At this stage, I think the bodyshell jbeam can be considered done. Next is to add the suspension, which first requires adding mounting points, or nodes. The first time I tried this exploded the engine bay, so I am going to have another go. Hopefully I should have some working suspension soon:D

I also finished off the dials, and made some light textures, and did all the insides of the panels. Now I just need to texture everything and the model is done ^_^

Looking great mate but aren't the wheels a bit too "square" or is it only looking like that in the software ?
Good luck with the suspensions :)

So after some faffing around, several game crashes and exploding jbeams, I made a (sort of) working double wishbone suspension. I had to rework the bodyshell jbeam to add suspension mounting points, and it seems to have worked out well (after numerous failures:p). The suspension moves around nicely and does not explode, so I can begin to move along. The next thing to do is to add steering, the coilover, the anti rollbar, brakes and wheels, and that's the front suspension:)

    Here's some more beamies

I also improved around the bottom of the rear window:)

    Just kidding, the suspension collapsed:eek:

Anyways, I added the coilovers, brakes, swaybar and steering, which worked rather well, but then I added the wheels which broke the suspension. Any help would be appreciated, I'm now going to try and give it some reasonable camber and height:D

The wheels also broke the steering and deleted the coilovers:confused:

Lessee, I have not made any changes in some time, although it has progressed from my last update. Basically, it's "driveable" in that all the running gear is present
    screenshot_00000.png screenshot_00001.png screenshot_00002.png screenshot_00003.png screenshot_00004.png
Of course, when I say driveable, that does not mean it's not free of a host of problems, which include:
    • The rear axle giggles about like an overweight person going for a jog
    • The front suspension is utter crap, and goes inside out whenever you round a bend
    • Veers to the left and spins uncontrollably
As a result, I am going to redo the jbeam and make it better this time, I hope...

Also, we haz slidenoeds now, so no more shoddy double wihbone suspension, this baby rides on struts now:D

The car and Jbeam looks great! My only recommendation that I've learned so far is that long slender parts of the jbeam tend to be the most unstable. Squares with crossbeams and triangles as much as possible! Haha

BTW how did you figure out how slidenodes work for strut suspension? The only slidenode car I know of released is Mythbusters JZX81 and looking at that kind of baffles me, theres a big mess of beams up at the top of the strut...

As far as the jbeam goes, not really, still wobbles like jelly.....

    However

Once I make my Trueno drive properly, I'll go back and fix up the jbeam for this:)

Wow, this is bizarre... I've been naming myself Banpei (named after Banpei from Ah! Megami Sama) on the interwebs for the past 20 years, am part of various Japanese car communities (mostly AE86 related) and only now I find this mod of the original 70s Celica! ;)
How far advanced is the mod at this moment?

So you must be the guy who runs Banpei.net/AEU86:eek: Really love your work, keep it up!
It's funny you mention that, I also named the car from Ah! Megami Sama, it was my favourite anime at the time, I really need to watch it again:p Also Megami means goddess (Celica means something along the lines of heavenly) so I figured it was a fitting name.

As it stands, the model for this is practically done (just needs to be mapped and tweaked a bit). Unfortunalely, the JBEAM (the physics skeleton that tells the model how to behave) always gave me trouble with this one, so ultimately I gave up T_T

I was just going to have it on "permanent hold", but now that you mention it I might try once more and finish it (it's about time I finish a mod:p) I'm sure I can botch a covet jbeam to suit in a few days XD
    1970BanpeiMegami1.png 1970BanpeiMegami2.png

A little bit off topic, but I'm also working in an MA61 Celica XX
    1981ToyotaCelicaXX2800GTMA61j.png
I'm sure you'll be pleased to know that with a "few tweaks" this could be turned into an A60 Carina *wink*
Fortunately this time, a bump may have saved this mod;)

Ehhhh... Miramar jbeam could probably fit better because it's a '60s Japanese sedan.

True, but it has too many doors:p
Either way, I like using Covet jbeams, In fact I will probably end up blending bits of the two, the Miramar rear suspension and boot would be perfect for the Megami!
