That is clearly your decision. If you like to throw away what is good becouse you cannot get your special whish, that's yours. The attempt to force me to do what you like is not welcome.

I'm not forcing you to do anything. I'm just leaving my feedback and my review. Moving on.

"There has to be no excuse from my side" My man all youve done is make excuses. None of them make sense as to why you wouldn't just do a quick shift+c and F12 and call it good, even if the plan was to change them later, calling them a placeholder implies you were going to change them anyways, but I have to question if that was actually the plan considering how hard your defending your decision.

Its a user accessibility issue, and if you are unwilling to address it and just call any complaints "profound," it makes me wonder if its even worth providing further criticism to help improve the map if the result is going to be "its my artistic decision"

There are thousands of things and tasks to work on the map. The thumbnails are how it is now. This had some reasons, some happened over months. It came not to a point to change the concept. It is additional work and it is simply an artist decission. Many of my friends like it, all the beta tester liked it. If you don't like it and it is that problematic for you I am sorry, but there is no reason to make a if or if not for the whole map. I cannot and will not react in that way you started by giving bad reviews and trying to focus on that. This is not my wavelength, feel free to leave.

I've long thought that one of the worst aspects of the BeamNG community is the surprising number of modders who take "my way or the highway" way too close to heart and permanently kill off worthwhile projects purely out of anger, in response to problems such as beta copies (even of free mods) being leaked. Whilst I encourage Barbent to not follow suit, and will never condone this practice outright, I have to admit that I have a little bit more sympathy for those who do after witnessing the manner in which people have complained about AI-generated thumbnails. How much information do you really get out of vanilla screenshot thumbnails that missing them is as big of a deal as people are making it out to be? It's not like it's still Version 0.7 and we have no map markers, and that's not even mentioning the many other modded maps which have thumbnails that are either missing, aren't screenshots or aren't photographed and/or named in a manner that makes them useful for deciding where to spawn your car.

Minimal effort on others parts are not a good excuse to make less of your own, especially when the alternative ends in more effort for less results

You get a big, new map. Free of charge, of course. You don't like the pictures and think that's enough to complain on a large scale and question my opinion, decision, work and situation. After I tried to explain it, you presented it as an excuse. Unfortunately, I can't follow this properly and ask you to end this topic.

Tell you what, Ill save you the effort: I will screenshot every spawn location for you. This benefits not just you, since you can focus on other more important things, it will also benefit your user base.

Free labor, from me to you.

Imagine there will be bout three times of spawnpoints and places like gas stations and so on. I also will rotate some of them or replace them. Why doing all the work for now and you? Be patient. The map will grow. For all the points I will set a camera bookmark and have a better workflow to create all the screenshots in one better go. But the map isn't in this state so you're disrupting my workflow - only to have a few pics RIGHT NOW. Please try to understand.

And then a few of you really try to force me change so very bad thing I did. To make me feel guilty about doing someting wrong. Try to make it real by giving bad reviews. As I said: that is not my wavelength. Sorry guys, that's not fine in any way. You say thanks for that much work in this kind of egoism?

Guys, just enjoy the map. It's much more exciting, than You think. It's something original and the map alone huge, everything fits perfect. It runs on every PC, which can run BeamNG. I played it for some hours now and i enjoyed it so much. How about taking Your favorite car, spawn on random location and travel around the map just by pressing M and set location anywhere on the spawn point? Or more interesting jst try to get there without gps. Take the challenge, Take MD series, Throw Power Steering away, Set up force feedback on 100% and try to not break Your table. Also everything in FPS and if You'll have issues with reversing, You can still go out of truck and walk to take a Look. And if You end Your tour, You won't be complaining about spawnpoint pictures, because You'll have muscle. ;)

First: I will be happy to do it again in future. I mostly did this for other users as, again, its an accessibility issue. Its also extremely suppressing what your map has to offer. At least other users can use it as a reference, and you can direct them here in the future when someone else inevitably brings it up.

Second: No one is forcing you to change anything. Its feedback. You feed it to people, and you get it back. Ignoring the ethical issues as to why people hate AI alone, I bring up the first point: There is no indication of what each location actually features, and because all the thumbnails look the same, a lot would be missed. What makes it aggravating is it isn't blank or default thumbnails(which plenty of us are used to), its purposefully obscure. An attempt was made, though in the wrong direction. Its just confusing why you would put in all that work just to stick a picture frame over the first window into your world.

Even if something is subject to change, a better representation of what IS there would have been better than nothing at all (with a healthy use of "*subject to change".) The only issue people truly have IS the thumbnails. Everything else has been praised. Yet when people keep bringing it up, you get mad and tell them to only look at the positive things (which is not how you get feedback). So to say everyone else has an ego issue is incredibly hypocritical.

Now, for everyone else looking for screenshots of each spawn location: Here you go (in file due to BeamNGs 10 file limit. there are, as of now, 15 spawns in total.)

Total time: 37:42.32 (could be optimized, current bug in the game that causes some issues when moving from the camera mode to the map. Or do it in a point to point time trial, could be interesting to start a rally% category)

Anyways, as Ive said before, its a good map, with tons of potential, it flows well and the detailed portions of the map are great. Please don't stop yourself short for some tech bro gimmick.

Thanks a lot for your amazing work! I'll prefer to go my way as I clearly described above. There's no need for you to put more effort in that. Thanks for your thoughts anyways.

I painstakingly turned a 65hp three-cylinder Miovi economy car into a Hellcat-beating AWD sleeper monster, only to squander it in a helicopter crash stunt that wasn't even that impressive. Why? Simply because everything is possible in Barbent's Homerange!

Finally downloaded it and started it up, takes awhile to load on the first time, but it got there on my potato low spec PC....FPS range from 10 - 30 depending on where you are, but this FPS range is on all maps I load.

Plently to see and do that's for sure and it's a Landscape Photographers dream;)

Taken just a few screenshots ( shown below ) and loaded up 'CK Dynamic Skybox' presets when taking the images.

Has some spectacular landscape scenery with quality building and structures developed, great mud and dirt tracks galore...and I have only just scratched the surface with these few screenshots:p

    Top marks... 'Barbent Servo GT':D

Also, personally, i like the AI vintage thumbnails and spawnpoints, they are original and they do give a feel of what the place is like.

I get the point why some people dislike the AI-Thumbnails, i personally am not a huge fan of them too, but they do give a hint of the location they lead to and after visiting the spawnpoints a few times you can make the connection between the thumbs and the spawns. And eventho its AI i think they are fun and different and i get the artistic thought behind them - to have these postcard like vintage images you can send home (from the homerange) at least thats my interpretation of them.

Also i get the frustration behind getting literally the worst possible review of one star for one and a half years of work just because of the thumbnails - tbf its your opinion and your right to review as you wish but i think its a bit unnecessary and unfair.

That being said - i drove the map for a few hours now and i really enjoyed every moment!
Hyped for whats next to come.
Also has anyone set a record for the race track yet ?
