Do not go in a discusion with those kids barbent, it is your choice, and your map, so if they do not like it, then that's their bad. You created a huge and beautifull map, and it will be free, so all those people with a dislike for spawnpoint pictures, go and make your own map. How the hell do they complain for this thing, IT IS A FREE MAP, so deal with it.
I´m very glad about all these positive, even enthusiastic reviews that come in. Off course there will always be matters of taste or aesthetic opinions that may differ, but the quality of the map itself is out of question. Congratulations and a big thank you to Barbent for this impressive work!
WOW! --- Post updated --- WOW! That is absolutely impressive! Art meets art. I love it. So beautiful!
Was running fine until this happened this shi made my gpu stop working (sorry about the slightly low quality, I couldn't be bothered taking a screenshot)
Momory is allocated dynamically so the demand is not constant. Close as many unneeded background apps. Firefox for example likes to use a lot of RAM (if available) so having it open creates additional load. I would say these are the right hints in your screenshot: Also keep in mind, the map will grow. I will continue to have any possible optimization for the map, but content isn't made out of nothing. So futur versions will not be smaller, even though not much bigger.
A lot of this has to do with the fact that my hardware certainly isn't the best for playing BeamNG. I totally understand, and I don't blame you for this happening. Right now I have a lot of mods, and I can definitely improve in that department, and will go through them all when I get a chance. As of right now I'm going to try my best to enjoy the map and hope that nothing crashes, because when it's not crashing, this map is possibly the best map I have ever played on.
For security reasons, before I open a mod, I scan all files within the zip file for certain character strings that indicate dangerous functions and script commands. In the process, I found the following command comment in the homerange\levels\homerange\mainLevel.lua file: --os.execute ("C:/test.exe") -- Goes sandboxed?! See Logfile Try to place it IN the sandbox ;-) ek 24_10_24 There was no exe file in the zip file, but this command comment raises questions.
Thank you for the Question! Also the mainLevel.lua is WIP . The answer is as it looks like: It was an experiment for me if it was possible to launch an external executable. This was not possible and so it gave me the information that it would not be possible to simply hack my LUA file and produce some damage. It was made to show me my and your safety. It is absolutely harmless.
https://www.beamng.com/threads/barbents-homerange.97065/page-16#post-1785740 There is no license plate desing, it's only (one of my first attempts to make) a livery...
I'm not accusing you of actually planning something nefarious, but harmless or not, it seems weird to do an experiment like this in a big project instead of a map you created for testing purposes.
Me too I already know that I'm below the minimum requirements to run the game (though it runs surprisingly fine on most situations). So I already knew that the map won't run properly, and it did, it crashed my pc.
Lowering the screen resolution, could do a lot of good things for you, that will not make it more beautifull, but it would run better. But unfortunaly there is a hardware restriction for the game, below that it is not playeble anymore.
Amazing map! Tested it yesterday online with a friend and it was a blast. Large and full of detail. More suited to offroad than crawling, I'd say, but probably I was just driving too fast to notice suitable places to do that... Anyway.. good work and thanks!!
No, lowering the screensize means also smaller textures in the video memory(I think you should clean the homerange folder in the cache map), and dlss also run the game in a smaller screensize and then upscale it, and that's why you get more fps also on slower pc's, and in Beam you can force the game to a lower FPS, and that will also be good for you pc, les frames to render.
