What size is your terrain? By size I mean the size of the heightmap, like 128x128, 256x256, 512x512, ect.
It seems kinda tiny for an airport tbh, unless you have another idea for it with the size you have now.

I dunno, because I didn't even import a custom heightmap for this to start with. But I do know the map is 2048x2048. It's definitely not the size of the airport I'm sort of basing it off of, but it's still a pretty good size. This is only my second real map, anyhow. :p

Ok, 2048x2048. Good, its kinda big but since its flat its not too bad to work with. Talk about a 2048x2048 map with mountains and cliffs and all that stuff... Thats how you kill an AMD based computer xD
But you have a good slate size. Thought it was small based on your pics, but now I see that its a big map. You should have room left over depending on what you want to do with it.

Ok, guys. I decided that I will probably do most of the models in Sketchup (yea i know). It's easy to use and the only other 3D modelling software is "useless" for this type of modeling.

Nothing wrong with getting your feet wet in Sketchup. Matter of fact I would recommend everyone
do that. It's a great way to learn the fundamentals of modeling for noobs like myself. Purists will hem
and haw about it yes, but I imagine quite a few higher end modelers around here dabbled in it or learned
from it at some point. Jammin2222's work is a fine example of Sketchup done right.

What's the best Sketchup tutorial series in your opinion?

For static objects I dont know if you need the same poly flow as in cars, But I would advise you google sketchup tutorials.
Find something that will work for you.

I have a base shape for some of the signs, I guess. Now I need to figure out how to texture it.

EDIT: After looking at it in-game I realized it needs to be smaller.

Looks like you know what you're doing with sketchup so far.
Keep up the good work. Keep us posted!

OK. So I got the desired texture on it :D, but when you approach the object or go away from it the texture flickers. Any ideas?

Do you have two textures on it? I don't think that two textures can be at the same depth on the model without causing issues. If that is the problem, maybe you can try stepping a rectangle out slightly and applying the yellow/blue texture directly to that.

I believe so, the stone texture for the sign itself and the actual text. Let me see if that works.

EDIT: How do I remove a texture in Sketchup?

[step by step] What method did you use to apply the textures? I don't use Sketchup often.

For the plain stone texture, I just used the bucket and clicked on each face with it. For the Terminal B, etc texture I imported it as a picture and applied it to the face.

Ah, now I'm getting a little traction. Hopefully there's a better way, but for now just use the pointer tool (Select) and create a box selection which highlights the picture. Then press backspace or delete. There may be an even better way (I'd like to think that there must be), but the easiest way I see is to use the Eraser tool and drag it over the edge of the picture (outside to inside or inside to outside). Be sure not to drag it over any of your actual geometery (lines etc).

Wut... That is not working. I'll just re pull out the end of it then put everything except that texture back on.

Just deleting the end and re-pulling it should be nearly painless in this case. If you keep using Sketchup though I suspect you'll need to get this done properly occasionally.

I tried it before I wrote here, but if that doesn't work here's another one to try: First, select nothing by using the pointer to click the background. Next, using the Move tool, hover your cursor over the corner of the picture. When you see the picture highlight (purple dot, red pluses) you can right click and Erase.

It just isn't working. I tried deleting the face behind the texture and everything, and it still flickers and half of the model is No Texture.
